BCS Title Could Be an All-SEC Affair

Blanket Coverage is a weekly rewind of all the action of Week 6, from the big opinions, to the small news, and, of course, coverage of all players named Ju-Ju.

In the second half of Florida's 13-3 win at LSU Saturday night, CBS color analyst Gary Danielson opined that a one-loss SEC team would play in the BCS Championship Game. Danielson's forecast seems fair enough, particularly considering the teams playing in front of him in Death Valley.

The Gators lost one game in both 2006 and 2008 and won the national championship. The Tigers lost two games in 2007 and beat Ohio State in the BCS title game. What Danielson failed to consider, though, was whether a one-loss SEC team with the second-best record in the conference might advance to Pasadena come January.

Dan Hawkins Sounding Like Mike Gundy When It Comes to Sportswriters

BOULDER, Colo. -- For a minute, it looked as if Dan Hawkins was going to make like Mike Gundy did two years ago, and declare, "I'm a man. I'm 40."

It was Gundy, Oklahoma State's coach, who directed that at a female sports writer who had been critical of the team's quarterback. He made a point of mentioning the reporter didn't have any children.

What is it about whether sports writers have children and Big 12 football.

There was Hawkins, the embattled Colorado coach, following his team's 24-0 whitewash Saturday over Wyoming, going the children route.

It's Not Funny: Wyoming Beats Tennessee

What, you came here expecting some witty headline and a joke revolving around lassos or Dick Cheney? Fugghedabout it. Look, I'm all about the occasional upset, it makes college football fun. But this -- this is brutal.

Wyoming has knocked off Tennessee 13-7 in the heart of Rocky Top. Obviously Phil Fulmer's not-unexpected resignation this week had a little something to do with the Vols coming out flat, but then again they've been flat most of the year. Northern Illinois took the Vols to the brink a few weeks ago before falling 13-9. Horrible UCLA beat them 27-24 in a great overtime battle that was suspect in retrospect.

There is life after coaching at Tennessee (broadcast booth, anyone? Make it happen), but it is beginning to settle in that we won't have Phil Fulmer to push around anymore.
