What had Neuheisel so upset is that Carroll voted against Neuheisel's proposal to allow coaches to have their children with them on the sidelines during games. Neuheisel explained on the video that the Pac-10 has a rule that children aren't permitted on the sidelines during games, but Neuheisel wanted a waiver for coaches' children, because he thinks fathers and sons can bond on the sidelines during games. Neuheisel said the proposal was put to a vote at a meeting of Pac-10 coaches, and that the vote was 9-1, with only Carroll opposed.
President Obama recently welcomed the national champion Florida Gators football team and UConn Huskies women's basketball team to the White House. Above is the video of the Gators' visit from the official White House YouTube channel; below is video of Obama playing a game of P-I-G with the Huskies.
Just 48 hours before the biggest day of their young careers, I was able to pick some of the players' brains and talk shop with the likes of ESPN's Trey Wingo and Fox Sports' Jay Glazer. A video chronicling my exciting night can be found after the jump.
My dream? Heck, it was to interview Erin Andrews! Sadly, though, things took an unexpected turn at EA's Draft Night Premiere IV in New York City when Andrews left me out of her dream. Confused by all this dream talk? Check out the interview below.
Kerry Taylor has some set of stones attempting this kind of grab in the middle of practice. During a recent Arizona State practice, the receiver pulled off a ridiculous behind-the-back catch (video after the jump). Its the kind of stunt that results in either a dropped ball or dropped jaws. Fortunately for Taylor, it was the latter.
He probably still got chewed out by his coach, but only after getting a pat on the back. Unfortunately it was only practice, we're talking about practice, and not a live game. Still awesome, but do it against an all Pac-10 corner and we've really got something here. (Via Wild West)
USF coach Jim Leavitt is known for leading his team out on to the field before games in a mad dash as the state troopers accompanying him try to keep up.To promote the South Florida spring game,Leavitt agreed to do a 40-yard dash. The 52-year old Leavitt turned in a brisk 5.72 second time. He also complained that the run was into the wind.
I'm hopeful that someone will eventually set up a biathlon of swimming and running between Leavitt and USC coach Pete Carroll.
Whenever you are dealing with young kids, you're going to experience some difficulties in decision-making. Plenty of adults have issues with commitment, so kids are bound to have the occasional change of heart. I've never thought it was a terribly big deal when it happened, but it seems to be grounds for assault when a teenage athlete changes his/her mind on a college choice. One of those who has made that change on Signing Day is Kraig Appleton, a wide receiver from East St. Louis, Illinois. YouTube of his skillz is after the jump.
Elie Seckbach, the Embedded Correspondent, brings his exclusive video reporting to FanHouse. Check back regularly for more videos.
What does USC coach Pete Carroll think of junior quarterback Mark Sanchez going into the NFL Draft? Does he still think it's a bad idea? And will Pete follow Mark to the NFL? We get all of those answers and more in this exclusive video. We also talk to more USC legends, like Reggie Bush and Willie McGinest, as well as other L.A. celebs.
The BCS stinks. It's never been more apparent than this year and that's why Saturday Night Live, a former cultural bastion of satirical humor, decided to take on the system. Kudos to Will Forte for making something funny that didn't involve Andy Samberg.
Thanks to Sports Rubbish for bothering to watch SNL (I fell asleep after the Doogie Howser theme song skit) all the way through and grabbing this sucker.
As long as the media is turning today into the official Tim Tebow Hagiography Day, we ought to at least acknowledge that this was a bush league move:
That was Tebow doing the Gator Chomp directly in the face of Sooners safety Nick Harris after Tebow picked up a first down late in the fourth quarter. It was a clear violation of college football rules, and the officials correctly penalized him for it.
Brennaman's partner, Charles Davis, was even worse: He tried to excuse Tebow's behavior by saying, "he was backing away, which is good." Uh, no. Tebow had purposefully walked several yards downfield to get right into Harris' face before he did the Gator Chomp. He only started backing away when he was sure Harris had seen what he was doing. Last time I checked, getting in someone's face to taunt him, only to back away before he has a chance to respond, isn't "good."
Is this a big deal? No. Taunting goes on in every game. But it's absurd that the FOX announcers responded to a player committing a penalty -- a stupid, unsportsmanlike penalty that stopped the clock just when the Gators were trying to run it out -- by showering praise upon him.
