Iowa Edges Michigan, Stays Perfect

The Iowa Hawkeyes rode five Michigan turnovers to a 30-28 victory in Iowa City tonight. The victory was their tenth in a row, which is the second-longest winning streak in the nation after Florida.

Iowa's passing game took control after quarterback Ricky Stanzi's first pass was intercepted by Michigan's Brandon Moore and returned for a touchdown. Stanzi threw two touchdown passes, both to tight end Tony Moeaki.

The Hawkeyes' 33-quarter streak of not allowing a rushing touchdown ended in the first quarter when Brandon Minor busted in from three yards out to put Michigan up 14-10. Iowa regained the lead just before halftime and would not relinquish it.

The Iowa pass defense, one of the Big Ten's stingiest, rattled Tate Forcier, who completed only 8 of 19 passes for 94 yards. Forcier was replaced by fellow freshman Denard Robinson, who led the Wolverines to a touchdown which he ran in himself from three yards out. Michigan's defense stopped Iowa after the ensuing onside kick went out of bounds, but Iowa's Brett Greenwood intercepted Robinson with 46 seconds left to finish off the Wolverines.

With Ohio State's victory over Wisconsin today, the Hawkeyes are now the Big Ten's only undefeated team. The Hawkeyes now face back-to-back road games against Wisconsin and Michigan State. Michigan fell to 4-2 and will face Delaware State in Ann Arbor next week.
