Michael Lewis's opus The Blind Side is currently filming in Atlanta and slated for release on November 20, 2009. The book recently received a jolt of interest when the primary subject of the story, Ole Miss offensive tackle Michael Oher, who rises from a hardscrabble existence in Memphis to become the top offensive tackle in the nation, was drafted in the first round by the Baltimore Ravens. A major portion of the story focuses on the top-ranked Oher's recruitment by three men: then-LSU coach Nick Saban, then-Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer, and then-Ole Miss coach Ed Orgeron. It's a recruiting battle for the ages. Two weeks ago Bruce Feldman reported that Orgeron would play himself in the movie. Now I can report that Phil Fulmer will be playing himself, having traveled down to Atlanta this past Friday to film his scenes with Sandra Bullock. All that remains to be determined is whether Nick Saban is playing himself. And wouldn't that be great if Saint Nick donned the purple and gold to reprise his role for the film?
Saban, of course, bolted LSU in the midst of the Oher recruitment to accept the Miami Dolphins job. Orgeron is now at Tennessee and Fulmer is not currently coaching. Evidently Tennessee was fine with Orgeron putting back on Ole Miss gear for the role, but somehow I don't think LSU and Alabama fans would be all that happy with Saban as head man at LSU. That's despite the fact that Lewis writes very favorably of Saban's smoothness when it comes to connecting with recruits and their families. What exactly does Saban do to endear himself to the family?
He compliments the window treatments.
Bang.
Yep, your windows can be sick. Any man, myself included, who has ever had the misfortune of paying for thousands of dollars in window treatments (I've always thought that "treatments" should be limited to living things) should doff their beaver pelt caps in Saint Nick's direction. Let it be duly noted, you can never go wrong with complimenting a woman's windows. Ever.
So far, Saint Nick has been mum on the role. Although given that Orgeron and Fulmer are lined up, it's going to be kind off odd to see Saban played by Mike Shula.

So if Saban doesn't play himself, who should play him? My money's on Don Johnson.
Saban said the other night that he has already done his part in the movie. So all 3 coaches will be making their 1st appearance on the silver screen.
