Urban Meyer Has Way With Words
At Coaching Clinic

Appearing at the Nike "Coach of the Year" clinic in Pennsylvania, Florida Gators football coach Urban Meyer delivered what was described as a "colorful" address," complete with lots of four-letter language.

The Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel report from the event included no less than three (bleep)s in its online edition. Maybe that's just the kind of coverage needed to perk up the newspaper industry.
Meyer was the featured speaker at the Nike "Coach of the Year" clinic coordinated by Liberty High assistant Jim Tkach. The leader of Gator Nation didn't disappoint with a colorful presentation complete with lots of uses of a four-letter word that begins with an "s" and ends in a "t." No wonder Meyer didn't want cameras in the room for his speech.
Meyer used that strong language as he outlined an unusual set of core values for his program. No, we're not talking Vince Lombardi stuff here, about effort or competing or any of that nonsense. We're talking things like "no weapons." Really.
1. Honesty. 2. Always show women respect. 3. No drugs. 4. No stealing. 5. No weapons.
The times they are a-changin'. Contrast that with Pete Carroll's "three rules" at USC.
One, protect the team. Two, no whining no complaining, no excuses. Three, be early.
Whatever, Meyer's the defending champion and Carroll's left still having to explain losses to Oregon State, UCLA and Stanford in successive seasons.
