Florida and Oklahoma are tied 7-7 at halftime, but Florida can't be feeling good heading into the second half: The Gators know that if they are going to win the BCS National Championship Game, they're going to need to do it without running back Chris Rainey.
In the second quarter, Rainey caught an 11-yard pass and was taken down from behind (in what could have been called a horse-collar tackle) and fell awkwardly on his leg. He appeared to have an ankle or knee injury and stayed down for a couple of minutes before he was taken to the locker room.
FOX reported that Rainey is "questionable," but judging from the way his leg bent under his body, the fact that he had to be carted off the field and the look on his face, it seems highly unlikely that he could return. That's a big loss for the Gators.

I'm a nuetral participant in this BCS Game with my eyes on both "Supposed" quarterbacks in the NCAAF. I am very disappointed as it isn't even halftime and I am truly wondering why Sam Bradford was even considered and then awarded the Heisman Trophy this year.
As i've always been told and taught; it's the players attention to the "TEAM" aand his ability to show "Leadership" that will prove him to be the most qualified player to receive that high prestigious award.
Well so far as every person watching this game can see is the pure fact that this Quarterback cannot even make a play yet a decision during each of his possesions on what to do without constantly looking to the sideline,,annoyingly and repeatedly at what he should do next.
This just proves that he is in no way whatsoever to be deserving of being awarded the Heisman or even considered for it as he completely lacks leadership skills and that of making a decision.
I don't know the outcome of this game yet, however, Eventhough Tim Tebow does make mistakes as everyone in this world does; he shows his leadership skills and traits not only to us, the viewer and the fan, but he also shows that he is a team player and the game is not all about him.
It seems that it might have been in the best interest of those higher ups who have money invested in the "game" that if Tim Tebow were to be awarded the Heisman instead of Sam Bradford,, well there wouldn't be as much interest in fans watching the game as there would be when you place two Heisman Award winners against each other.
That makes perfect sense that these games that used to be enjoyable sporting events have only become that of greedy money makers and it just is not enjoyable watching things like that at all.
I look forward to the very soon future where there is a final championship game in college football as there is for the NFL.
Too many rediculous ways to make more money by having poor teams playing in several bowl games.
Have your playoffs in college in the same way the NFL does it, and then that which becomes worthy of the National Championship does so at one Bowl Game which changes its location year to year.
I know i'm not the only one who agrees on this and it's been said over and over that the Heisman award should be voted on by the fans and determined by the fans.
It's really very simple and it's called "Voting"!!!

I agree with Jeff d's comment 100%! Bradford has not proven himself through-out the season as being a team leader. I follow both college and professional football avidly. I am very disappointed in the Heisman trophy nominations for this past football season. There were several other players that were not even considered for the Heisman that were much more deserving than Bradford. Bradford never makes his own play calls, as mentioned in Jeff d's comment. If he were a leader he would be able to make play calls on his own and not have to rely on the coaching staff for every play. This just shows that he is unable to make crucial decisions that are necessary when under pressure. In my eyes he is not up to the standards required to be a Heisman Trophy winner. I also agree that the Heisman voting system is nothing but a farse, it should be left to the fans to vote for the winner, not the suits that run the show!

You need to remember that no QB's call their own plays anymore. Johnny U is gone, never to return.
The difference between the college and pros is that the pro QB's have microphones in their helmets, so they don't need to see signals from the sideline.
I say, if Tom Brady and Peyton Manning aren't calling their own plays, it's a bit much to ask a college sophomore to call the plays.
Having said that, as an admittedly biased Gator, I think Tebow should have won the Heisman. It's supposed to be more about leadership than statistics. Somewhere along the way, the Heisman voters forgot that. Maybe after watching Bradford get exposed as merely a good QB by a REAL defense will remind those voters of what that award's supposed to be about.

I am not an avid fan of either team, but I gotta feel bad for Rainey. The guy is one speedy young back, and that injury made me cringe. I hope for his career he can come back to health with the same speed.

I'm an avid Gator and Tebow fan but I have no real problems with Bradford's selection for the Heisman. Maybe if they voted after all the games were finished, he might not have won, but I think he was a good choice at the time. One thing that does bother me: Tebow got the most first-place votes but was left off of so many ballots. A lot of that had to be Gator-hating.
