In a hard-fought defensive struggle, the Florida Gators defeated the Oklahoma Sooners 24-14 to win the 2009 BCS National Championship Game.
The game went back and forth and was mostly even throughout, with the score tied 7-7 at halftime and 14-14 early in the fourth quarter. But a Florida field goal gave the Gators a 17-14 lead with just under 11 minutes to go in the fourth, and Tim Tebow hit David Nelson for a four-yard touchdown with 3:07 to play. That basically sealed the win.
The victory gives Florida its second national championship in three years. Urban Meyer leads the best football program in the country, and next year this Gators dynasty may make it three of four.

So Fla was 10 pts better than OU on a neutral field. Why does that sound familiar?

Neutral field? The Texas game was played in Texas and the Florida game was played in Florida!

Congratulations to the Florida Gators and Superman. (But I wouldn't want to be like you). But please don't play that defense card or I'll have to mention Superman vs The Oklahoma "D" with about 70 yards passing? two pickoffs from Superman let's go back to the old ball coaches saying from Auburn "A win's a win". The only thing I dread is the 3 championship titles the Sec have won. Way to go Sec.

You obviously don't know what your talking about. Sure Tebow threw two picks in the first quarter, but he was just trying to get a feel for their defensive looks. At halftime Tebow apologized to the team for the interceptions, and then willed his team to victory. Tebow finished the game 18/30 for 231 yards and 2 TD's. Not to mention 108 rushing yards. Sounds like Superman to me.

Total garbage football from both teams, really. Does anyone not from the South think Florida would be less than a TD underdog against USC in a week in a +1?

I'm sorry did USC beat Florida? Because I'd like to know what makes you better? Because you thrashed two Big 10 teams? The same Big 10 that went 1 - 5 in bowl games this year? And as for your bowl win...Penn state is not even in the same league as Oklahoma. Cal and Arizona played you close, with Arizona only beaten by a touchdown. You lost to Oregon State by a touchdown. The Gators dominated every team they played and lost to Ole Miss because of a blocked extra point kick. So tell me exactly what makes USC so much better than Florida? The best game of the season was Florida and Oklahoma and you can call it sloppy or whatever you want. That's what happens when two great defenses come to play. As if your wins over Arizona and Cal weren't sloppy. I'm not going to sit here and say that Florida is better than USC because I actually respect the Trojans, but there is no way in hell that USC is better than Florida either. I figure any given day this season, either team could win. If you can't see that then you're just a fanboy that cannot see past Southern Cal.

USC wouldnt stand a chance against the Gators
the only reason they are even in the standings every year is because all the teams they play are GARBAGE
the SEC is the toughest Conference in the NATION
and right now your in the GATOR NATION

A playoff system is needed to prove who is number one, however I feel that Florida would be victorious against any team in the country.Their strength of schedule speaks for itself.

Because OU has a habit this year of double digit losses to teams on a neutral site!
Boomer, BCS-loser, Sooner!
Big Game Bob Stoopsie now has a five game BCS losing streak! Give that man a raise!!!!
Only at OU.

My computer just came up with the following rankings:
1. USC, based largely on the fact that it was far better than Ohio State and Penn State (which also beat Ohio State). Plus, the bowls showed that the Pac-10 was under-rated.
2. Florida, based largely on beating Oklahoma but not by very much and not looking very good doing it.
3. Oklahoma, based largely on the fact that it beat TCU by a greater amount than did Utah and that it scored about 10 points more per game against the six opponents it had in common with Texas. (I know Texas beat Oklahoma, but it failed to shine against Ohio State and did worse than Oklahoma against their six common opponents.)
4. Texas, see above. It barely could beat Ohio State and the bowls showed that the Big-12 was overrated. (After all, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech all lost and Texas barely beat Ohio State.)
5. Utah, for barely beating TCU.
6. TCU, for beating Boise State and barely losing to Utah.
7. Alabama
8. Penn State
9. Boise State
10. Ohio State probably should be lower but did do well against Texas.

this really was a garbage game to watch. Congrats to Florida and accolades to Tim (may I one day get to "spend 15 minutes with him and be a better person for it"), but neither of these teams looked the caliber of a National Champion, even a Mythical one like the BCS.
Also, can we please stop referring to this as a neutral field? This was a neutral field only in the sense that the Rose Bowl is 'neutral' for USC or the Superdome was for LSU last year.
Utah for AP Champ!
