FanHouse gathers around the TV to bring you insights from Bowl Season '08.
Its a college football thing, and we're here to enjoy it. The Rose Bowl, the Granddaddy of them all -- bless Keith Jackson's heart.
You know the story, 11-1 Penn State and 11-1 USC, both a few points away from appearing in a game involving a crystal football. Their loss, but Pasadena will most definitely suffice at least on this January 1 afternoon. Two tough defenses, two mobile quarterbacks, classic brand names and two fabled coaches roaming the sidelines competing for another bowl victory.

What a poor performance by Penn State. Another loss by a Big 10 school to the Pac 10. Even more fuel for people to say the Big 10 is weak. What an embarrassing loss! Our defense stinks... USC picked apart defensive backs zone, cover 2 &3. All USC needed to do was throw in the seems of our zones and they had a completed pass. Oh yes no pressure on USC's QB did not help either.
On offense in the 2nd half we kept on throwing stupid screen passes that got two-three yards and we were lossing 31-7. Throw the ball done field. Why we did not attempt an on-side kick in the second half is beyond me.....The field goaled we kicked in the seconf have-why we did not try a fake to get a touchdown????...The killer was the last offensive drive of the game..... great field position with USC's bad punt snap and we could not capitalize.... bone head lineman false start..... last pay of game when Clark throw to Bulter and he was not even in position to catch the ball for a touchdown, he let the ball go behind him for a USC interception what a bonehead.......

What happened to the flag on the excessive celebration from the USC score. It was never announced. What a bunch of arrogant players and a disrespectful coaching staff of USC. USC may be out playing PSU in the first half, but PSU still has their integrity and pride.
PSU does not chant and dance in the middle of the field after a score. What a bunch of rude USC players and jerks.
Pete Carrol needs to show some respect. What an idiot.
JoPa would never let that happen

Well, here it goes again, Brent Musburger must be the most biased commentator I've ever seen and he's the same way when he does OU games. I wish they would get rid of him. He's already starting on the USC should be #1 routine just because the beat (1) a #8 ranked PSU and (2) that team is in a conference thats only won 1 bowl game. Lets forget OU and Fla. both have beaten #1 ranked teams this year, and USC has'nt played anyone ranked higher than #8 unless you want to count OSU and where did they end the year at. I see why the PAC 10 likes there aliance with the Big 10, why don't they form a bowl aliance with the Big 12 or SEC ? I know because everyone is scared of USC.

Why in the heck did M'burger whine about not giving the opponent enough time to change players (defense to punt return team)? Does he not know its their responsibility to get their players on and off the field and trying to catch em off guard is common?

Besides that,,, the refs cheated by not penalizing the team for having 4 extra players on the field. It should have been USC's first down. How in the heck did they come up with a 10 year penalty on Penn and a first and 10 for them???
Bob Jr answering his question,,, but you're welcome to tell me what you think.

As usual, the media's perception of S.C. is much higher than their actual ability. Of course they are a talented team, but this notion that they deserve a shot at the Florida/OU winner simply by beating an overrated Penn St. team is absurd.
I'm not sure Texas was even mentioned once.

Florida losses to old Miss, not on the road BUT AT HOME not even a road loss, USC losses ON THE ROAD to a Oregon that beat OLKA ST who was 3 points from beating Texas, AND finally if USC played Florida with SC and that killer defense and the way they can score VS anyone!! I think its fair to say USC might not end up #1 but they would be the favorite VS Florida, Okla or even Texas the spread plus 9, again they they are the best but again not #1 I am sick of the the ACC and SEC, last year it made me sick watching LSU a team USC would have crushed at least Florida plays Oklahoma this year, go sooners!!!
