Why Mess With Things? Charlie Weis Will Keep Calling the Offense in Hawaii Bowl

I mean it isn't like the offense has gotten worse in the prior three games that Weis was calling the offense. Right?

Really? How about this -- 27, 21, 3. Or -- 340, 332, 91. That's the scoring output and total yardage in the games. There appears to be a downward trend. Something also repeated in time of possession -- it just declines in each game to go with the 1-2 record with Weis calling the offense.

Of course, with the 6-6 finish and plenty of speculation that there will be an overhaul of the coaching staff coming, there might be some people who would read something into Weis deciding to continue to call the offense instead of offensive coordinator Mike Haywood. Well, that's just silly.
"That's the other thing you read when you do that: All of the sudden you're trying to run someone out or there's a rift between you, but we couldn't be any closer than we are right now," Weis said.
So, um, any reason in particular for the decision? Hopefully nothing that could be considered arrogant, dismissive and without any insight to put an end to the speculation.
"That's just the way it is. That's why," he said. "There's no further explanation. That's just the way we're doing it for this game. After this game, we'll worry about next year."

Weis said at the beginning of the year that Haywood would be calling plays all season and dismissed those who said he would take over before the season was over.
Oh.

Nothing to see here. Just move along. You people have no reason to try and read anything more into things. It is all perfectly fine and it is all just irresponsible to even ask questions.
