This year's race for the Heisman Trophy has been tight ... very tight. The three finalists -- Sam Bradford, Colt McCoy, and Tim Tebow -- have each made compelling cases to win the award throughout the regular season. Each have produced more than a handful of Heisman moments. And each has elevated his team: Oklahoma, Texas and Florida have combined records of 36-3, and of course the Sooners and Gators will face each other in the BCS National Championship on Jan. 8, 2009.
As such, it's the closest and most difficult to predict Heisman race in years. Stiffarmtrophy.com, who has correctly predicted the winner of college football's most prestigious individual award for the last six years, has released their final projection on Saturday afternoon. With 249 ballots and 670 votes recorded, they're predicting:
1. Sam Bradford (82 first place votes, 89 second place votes, 43 third place votes - 1690 total).
2. Tim Tebow (92 / 45 / 65 - 1533 total).
3. Colt McCoy (71 / 69 / 64 - 1474 total).
What's interesting about this projection, aside from how close the contestants are in terms of total points, is that Tim Tebow has significantly more first place votes than his fellow contestants. Where he falls short is in the second-place category -- it appears that voters choosing a Big 12 quarterback tended to place Tebow third or lower on their ballot.
Tebow also surged ahead from third to second in Stiffarmtrophy.com's projection in the final ballot tally.
This race is so close that the projection easily falls within last year's margin of error. So hold onto your seats -- with less than half the total ballots recorded, any one of these talented finalists could still win. But for now, Bradford holds a slim edge.

Tough call. All three have shown character both on and off the field. They represent the best in collegiate athletics. It's too bad one has to get the nod over the other two.
This is a year of gaudy numbers, so numbers aren't enough. Tebow had the numbers last year when no one else had them. This year he very publicly put his team on his back, vowed only the top effort and produced and made his team better...without their, so-called "best player" Harvin, at important times. The others must "take it away" from the champ, and they haven't
Colt got robbed. Par for the course. He Rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go UT and BTW the process is fixed.
How did Tbow get privileged? I can't see him sticking around for another year. Publicity stunts and amateur atletes what a way to go.
