So we are down to this scenario. One team from the SEC will play one team from the Big 12 in the BCS National Championship game, we just have no idea who. While Alabama, Florida, and Oklahoma all get a chance to figure it out for themselves, Texas will be at home watching that big, beautiful Godzillatron they spent some of their National Champion money on in hopes that Missouri can do what they couldn't do last week against Kansas -- outscore Sam Bradford.
The BCS Rankings came out this morning and they were what most expected. Alabama stayed on top with their undefeated record in the SEC, Oklahoma was second, followed by Texas, USC, Utah, Texas Tech and Penn State.
What does this mean for Oklahoma?
Well, as I said earlier, the Sooners get a chance to take on Chase Daniels and the Tigers at the conference championship for a second straight yet year. In 2007, Oklahoma embarrassed Missouri 38-17 but haven't faced the Tigers since. Like the Big 12 has been for most of 2008, it will be offensive-minded, with Oklahoma touting the third ranked offense in the nation and Missouri with the sixth.
Texas won't have a say in any of it, getting jumped by Oklahoma because the BCS committee (and most logical people in the country) thought the win over Oklahoma State by the Sooners was more impressive than the Longhorns trumping the Aggies. If the Sooners win, Texas will most likely head to the Fiesta Bowl to play Ohio State.
Alabama and Florida basically are assured a spot in either the BCS National Championship or the Sugar Bowl. The loser of the SEC Championship, set for Saturday at 4:00 PM EST, will play Utah in the BCS bowl.
Penn State and USC are set to face off in the Rose Bowl and Boston College will face Cincinnati in the

I like how Mr. Shane Bacon overlooks the fact that Texas beat Oklahoma. As a matter of fact UT beat both OU and Missouri, the teams in the Big 12 championship, yet aren't considered a championship contender. I guess the school presidents can't claim that the regular season holds importance anymore with these oversights.

I think there's plenty rotten smells in the ole barn! Like the last play of the OU-OSU game when OU snapped the ball and OSU seemed to give OU another touchdown without a fight so OU would pass Texas and at least one of the Oklahoma teams would play in the Big 12 Championship game. If that ain't dirty pool, I don't know what is. For all you Okie fans know this; it took a Texas team to beat Texas. You Okies didn't do it.

Oh!! forgot TX beat #1 OK.Thats the best you can come up with,BCS what a joke.If I was Mac Brown I would not be a part of the Coaches Vote.

I don't understand why Texas would not move to #2 if Alabama gets beat by Florida. Then OU (If they beat Missouri) and Texas would be number 1 and 2 and should play for the BCS Championship. Florida would finish in #3 and Alabama #4. Let them play again if they want to, but let the nations top two teams play for all the marbles. It is fair and would be a great game. It would also sell out the stadium. Again the strength of the Big 12 schedule is the deciding factor.

Texas never make a habit of runnung up the score when the game has been decided. It almost cost them in 2005 and it did cost them this year. What a price for showing a little class. Texas 45 OU 35.

THE THING IS THAT NONE OF THOSE BIAS COACHES OR OU WANTED TO SEE TEXAS GET ANOTHER NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP THAT FAST. SO THEY GOT TOGETHER AND PUT OU ABOVE TEXAS CAUSE THEY KNOW THAT OU CAN NOT WIN A NATIONAL CAUSE THAT GIVE UP POINTS DEFENSE THEY HAVE. HOW MANY TIMES HAVE STOOPS WON A BOWL PERIOD. WELL EITHER BAMA OR THOSE GATORS WILL SHOW THE WORLD THAT OU IS NOT THAT GOOD. IF MIZZIOU DO NOT DO IT FIRST.RIGHT NOW WHO EVER FACE THE LONGHORNS ARE SURE TO FEEL THE WRATH OF THAT FAST SCORING OFFENSE AND THAT DEFENSE THAT DO BEND BUT DO NOT BREAK.

Mr. BCS Bossman, What are you doing? Do you know nothing about football? Please let a fan run the operation or put a play off in effect. Thank you Sir. The whole nation will thank you,
Alabma or Florida, Oklahoma or Texas, Boise State or Utah,
Penn State or Ohio State, I don't know them all, but a host of others will thank you. Please????

so following the logic why isn't texas tech ahead of texas they beat them right and they have the same record
the ratings finally are rewarding teams for playing a tougher schedule ou is 5-1 against top 30 teams did any other team even play that many top 30 teams
ou will finally show the country what a great offense they have
and their defense is doing as good a job as possible missing 3 starters
OU #1

The reason Texas Tech isn't ranked ahead of Texas and part of the discussion is because they got absolutely blown out in their loss. Texas and OU did not.

It's only right the haughty high and mighty teasippers of Austin get their comeuppance. (No I am not an Aggie. I just hate UT and all it represents.) I feel so damn sorry for the folks in Austin. Their precious little football team is getting screwed. Dell is in "trouble." Traffic sucks. Willie Nelson won't die. Life is hard. Deal with it.
Don't despair too much. Mr. February, er, Mack Brown will have another fabulous recruiting class. In the great tradition of Darrell K. Royal (who was, of course, a Sooner) he will corral the best talent in the nation but still find a way to get his butt beat.

You have issues, sure I am a UT fan, but I still admire OU, TT and all the great teams of the Big 12 for their efforts and would never disparage them the way that you feel you must with Texas. It is a great conference and Texas is one of the greatest.
