My colleague, Chris Burke, noted Penn State's struggles in the first half against Indiana coming off their loss to Iowa. If LSU was merely struggling with Troy after last week's gut-wrenching loss to Alabama it would be a similar hangover. It is nothing like that. At halftime, Troy has a 24-3 lead over LSU in Tiger Stadium. This game was originally supposed to be played back in September but was postponed because of Hurricane Gustav. Apparently the Tigers weren't told of the new day because LSU has simply been a no-show for this game.
The Tiger offense has 63 yards and the defense has allowed Troy to throw for over 200 yards in the first half. The Trojans also intercepted a Jarrett Lee pass (who hasn't this season) and returned it for a touchdown.
LSU still has a whole 30 minutes to pull out a win. They have the far superior talent. The questions are: did they dig too big a hole and do they have those cliched intangibles to actually do it?

The SEC continues to be completely overrated. You have very good teams at Alabama and Florida, and then a bunch of overhyped crap.
LSU getting smoked at home by Troy? Are you kidding me? This is one of the top teams in the SEC?
Georgia's not nearly as good as its rating, South Carolina sucks, Kentucky, Vandy, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Tennessee and Auburn are all horrible.
I mean why do we have to keep listening to this SEC is King B.S.? It's a very clearly flawed conference.

Doug...Back away from the glass pipe slowly...LSU has issues this season due to the original quarterback for this season was kicked off the team for being a thug..So the quarterback that was suposed to be developed for two more years had to be the starter...Georgia ownly struggles against other SEC teams .
Alabama has more national championships than any other school...over 1/2 the SEC will be in bowl games and a SEC team will be national champs again this season... You can like it or not like it but the SEC is and has been for years the strongest in the country!!!!!!

Great Rally by LSU. It took a lot of Troy mistakes and a furious rally, but they got the job done.
The Big 12 has surplanted the SEC (at least until the bowl season) as the best conference in America, but with steady teams like LSU, UGA, an emerging Ole Miss squad, and juggernaughts like Bama and Florida, the SEC is still hella good.

I will concede that the Big 12 is the best conference this year, because of Texas, Texas Tech and Oklahoma. If Tennessee and Auburn hadn't wilted the way they did this season, then the SEC would have been the best. However, I will also concede that the SEC has the best team in the game right now--Florida. I have never seen a team force another team out of their rhythm the way Florida has been doing in the last six games. If the Gators win out and take the National Championship, I believe he should take the Heisman. This man has single handedly inspired his team from being good to being great--and there is no statistic for that. I also believe that Florida has played better defenses than either Tech or Texas so Tebow's numbers are going to be less than either Colt's or Harrell's. Either way, I believe whomever gets their team and wins the championship should have the Heisman winning quarterback.

Hey, Doug and Zac, LSU won, so they don't have a QB and yes the win wasn't to pretty, THE SEC still rules.. Just watch the SEC defense take down those BIG 12 teams in the BCS CHAM. or any bowl game! I think LSU shut Ohio State up last year. And you'll see BAMA or Gators, shut up the BIG 12 this year. ..
LSU found a way to win just like all the SEC do....

Just for the record, Many of the fans that left the stadium did so before the half-time clock expired.
Temps dropped very quickly in the stadium with a 20mph wind, Most were not dressed for such a temperature change.b The came to the game in long sleve sweat shirts and sweaters, expect temps in the 50's
By game's end, temperature in Baton Rouge was 38 F and falling. By midnight, the radio was announcing 32 F temps.
Don't be too hard on the fans, Many of the more fickle fans do leave early when LSU is in an apparent loss, but the greatest majority stay till the bitter end in support of the team.
I always do.

I 'm a BAMA fan living in the heart of LSU territory, and I pull for both, but I'm more radical for BAMA but, Thanks, Strommy, for pointing that out about the fans walking out I've seen it to much at Death Valley, yes we in the SEC think we're best, and yes PAC10 and BIG 12 think their best, but a fan that walks out on their team before the game's over need to be ashamed of themselves, and yes I'm speaking to BAMA fans alike, because you've done it to.. These guys work hard all week, to bring us enjoyment and entertainment on the weekend, so to ALL the fans no matter what hat you wear... SEC BIG 12 PAC10 ACC and others don't give up on your team that 's what makes good teams great they find a way to win in 60 minutes...........................ROLL TIDE

I'm not trying to be rude Mudbug00, but what happened to the LSU fans when they played Georgia, I'll give you credit you might have stayed at the GA game, but you can't blame the weather on the fans that day!
