Tuberville: 'Salesman' Wanted for Auburn's Offensive Coordinator

Tommy Tuberville is known for chewing his coordinators up and spitting them out again. Since firing Tony Franklin mid-season, Auburn's offense has gone from bad to worse. So what's Tuberville looking for in his next offensive coordinator?

"What I'm looking for is somebody that fits into what we'd like to do, but also gives us a future in terms of being able to recruit," Tuberville said. "That's 99 percent of it. You've got to be able to get players to buy into what you're doing, on defense and offense. Then you have to have a good salesman. It starts with the head coach and then it goes to the offensive and defensive coordinators."

True enough. Of course, it also helps when your coordinator is capable of moving your team downfield and putting points on the board. Former coordinator Al Borges drew criticism as being too stodgy and old-fashioned to move Auburn's offense into the 21st century, but compared to Franklin's 'Spread Eagle', Borges' twin-TE sets and ace formations supported a power running attack which could be considered a thing of beauty in retrospect.
