After a terribly-timed one-week ban from Camp Randall Stadium, the University of Wisconsin band promises to behave itself.Allegations of sexual misconduct and overall bad behavior led to the suspension. The university says that while the matter isn't totally closed, the band is being allowed to play this weekend when the football team hosts Penn State.
The group will not travel for the time being, and additional complaints will result in reconsideration of the group's suspension, UW-Madison Dean of Students Lori Berquam said in a statement.Surely, the fact that Camp Randall was eerily quiet for a night game against freaking Ohio State had nothing to do with this. The band adds to the overall atmosphere in Madison, and they were clearly missed during last week's game. No one is blaming the loss on that, as none of the band members are supposed to tackle Terrelle Pryor or avoid throwing game-killing interceptions.
A report that students were fondled against their will was not substantiated. But the investigation found "a culture that had allowed demeaning and inappropriate activity" in the band.
Berquam said the investigation begun by her office will "remain open, but immediate concerns related to the health, safety and academic impact on (band) members have been addressed."
And there's no mention of the initial report that women were forced to kiss on a bus trip. Perhaps that one was true, huh?
