As I went over yesterday, the Miami Hurricanes weren't very happy with Urban Meyer and the Florida Gators decision to kick a field goal with twenty-five seconds left in a game they led 23-3. After the game, Canes coach Randy Shannon questioned the ethics of the move, and said he was hopeful that it would help his recruiting when players see what kind of guy Meyer is.That prompted Tim Tebow to come to his coach's defense on Monday, and the issue is still not squashed. Now even former players are getting involved, as former Cane and current twinkle-toer Warren Sapp weighed in on the whole thing.
Ex-Canes star Warren Sapp, on a Showtime conference call Tuesday for Inside the NFL, called UF coach Urban Meyer ''a classless dirtbag'' for kicking a field goal late in Florida's 26-3 win against UM. ''But it's coming back in a big way'' when the teams meet in 2013, he said. We're making threats about games that aren't going to be played for another five years now? Seems rather pointless, no? I'm pretty sure that with the way things have gone at The U in recent years, Randy Shannon won't even be coaching the team come 2013.
Seriously, guys, it's not Urban Meyer's fault you got your butts kicked. It's your fault. The sooner you understand this, the sooner you might start winning these games again.

Wait, the same Warren Sapp that ended a guys year by taking a cheap shot 40 yards away from the play and then told Mike Sherman to put on a uniform if he didn't like it? That Warrne Sapp? Pot, meet kettle. Kettle, pot.

I love it. Shannon "hopeful this will help recruiting." Yea, that's it Randy, point out that while the in-state rival (with whom you're directly competing for recruits) whipped you silly, but that they did it in a slightly classless manner. Never mind the fact that the "U" very well may be the dirtiest, least classy major D-1 program over the last 25 years, period, bar-none. I'm sure that whole argument will sway the fragile mind of a 17-year old prep star, who values losing with dignity over winning.

Warren Sapp is one of the most classless people to ever play the game. That blindsides he gave is living proof. He went to the "U" and probably has an 8th grade reading level. And that's giving him credit which he doesn't even deserve.

Warren Sapp is just like Urban Meyers. Both are classless dirtbags. If the President of UF leaves, Urban will have to go also. That is why he is there, everywhere the President has been he pulled Urban with him. This is the third school that the President has been and brought Meyer with him. Bot need to go and someone needs to also shut Sapps big mouth. He is a dirtbag, just like Urban.

Miami has become a sad, weakling in a sad, weak conference. They set the bar for being classless dirtbags throughout the 80's and 90's...but at least they backed it up with championships. Now they are toothless windbags. And a note to Randy Shannon...he still gets the top recruits, he just can't win with them.

Seriously, this story won't die. "Classless dirtbag"? Let's count the long line of classless dirtbags that have played at that school. The Gators kicked a field goal! Whah, boo hoo! So what? These are grown men playing football, not little girls playing four-square. I've never heard more whining from a coach/fans in all my years of watching football. If you don't want the other team to score on you STOP them. That's why they play 60 minutes, not 59 mins and 33 seconds. I can't believe what was once the high and mighty Hurricanes with swagger has come to this level of "the other team plays too mean". Panzies. And to Randy Shannon, any recruit that wants to go play for a team with a soft mentality like this, my team doesn’t want you anyway.

Yes Sapp does have a convenient memory, he was many times a dirtbag himself. Meyer however is a classless, spineless, chinless piece of refuse. A field goal with twenty some seconds left shows he is as low a person as so many of those former Hurricanes were.

i luv warren but negro plz...do u still watch the games?? in this day and age when the pollsters look at the final scoreboard at the end of the day and bump others up for great performances and drop others b/c they simply won their game and didn't blow the other out but simply ran the ball the final quarter, those days for BCS teams are overrrrr !! tell that "classless, dirtbag" sh*t to georgia...they were being the good guys. u think now they won't hesitate to put their foot on other opponents' throats the rest of the yr after USC jumped over them in wk 1.

Did the Gators whine like this the last 6 times Miami beat them? I mean running up the score when you are 20 points ahead? Thats running up the score to Miami? No wonder they can't muster up a winning season. What is this pop warner where every player gets a trophy? boo hoo hoo Oh my God, what a bunch of babies. Winners find a way to win and losers find excuses. There you have it Miami. Take your loss like a man..geez

Can we mention just for a moment that we're talking about two completely opposite programs. Florida, in recent years has developed an athletic program under Jeremy Foley and the Boosters that is second to none, and it's all due to the football teams sucsess. College teams don't pay out 3 million plus a year for a coach and turn him lose in a state of the art facility to watch him roll over and wag his tail... they (every Gator breathing) waited five years... no wait, since 85???... to be the spanker vs. the spankee... give the man a break, he was doing what every Gator wanted him to do... kickin' 'in-state' *ss.
I won't mention the fact that Urbans field goal/extra point game over the last few years has sucked and more than likely he was merely giving his kicker some confidence building excercises before he has to face that difficult SEC schedule topped off with Bowden at Tallahassee this year... the way I see it... the man was getting his BCS points while the getting was good... quit crying about it... your embarrassing the entire state !!
Sapp... Mom always taught me to see the good in everyone... the man can play ball... that's all I have to say about that.

Wasn't the point spread 21 points? Didn't the Gators need that late field goal to cover or push the spread? Thanks, Urban.

Give me a break on the "ethics" of what Urban Meyer did to Miami. How does that differ in any significant way from what Miami did on the previous week to Charleston Southern? In fact, what Miami did was worse. Miami laid 52 points on that hapless team, 10 of them in the last 7 or 8 minutes of the 4th quarter, at which time Miami already had a 35 point lead. Coach Shannon, you can't do that to a team one week and then cry foul when it's done to you the next. What goes around, comes around.

I am neither a Canes or Gators fan. Unless someone can point to an almost identical scenario(25 seconds left, up by 20 etc.) it is difficult to justify kicking a field goal. I guarantee that if the Florida kicker had significantly injured himself on that play Florida fans would be screaming at Urban for kicking a field goal in that situation. Personally, I think he was reminded by more than a few alumni before the game that the spread was 21-22 and it sure would be nice to win by more. Not wanting to bite the hand that feeds him he gave in to the pressure. Bottom line, who cares?

As an instate fan that watched all three major programs and all three pro programs, I would honestly say Warren Sapp should shut is pie hole. He is a loud mouth, cheap dirty player. Miami ran up scores for 20 years on teams, including the team that Sapp was on. In the day and age of BCS rankings, it is very important to make every possible positive impression.
The fact is, Miami should be ashamed of the current state of their football program. It is a joke to the former greatness it once was. It is truly sad that Miami has to cry foul to make themselves look better.

I am a U fan and have been for many years but, this is bull this team sucks and the U coach will be looking for a job at the end of this year, Jimmy Johnson once said, after a game in which Miami beat the shit out of ND and coach Holt cried like a baby about the score, Coach Johnson said "I can only coach one team at a time". Quit crying Miami and instill some pride and get back to earning your wins.
