I love you, West Virginia player. I love you so much. Isn't this nice? What do you mean we're down three touchdowns?Well, West Virginia just punted from midfield with seven minutes left in a game they're down three touchdowns, so it's time to write the requisite "boy, I bet Ed Pastilong wishes he didn't wake up on January third with a wicked hangover, the faint memory of something profane at three in the morning, and a contract signed by Bill Stewart" post.
So, yeah, I bet Ed Pastilong wishes he didn't wake up on January third with a wicked hangover, the faint memory of something profane at three in the morning, and a contract signed by Bill Stewart. We heard all fall about how Bill Stewart was a terrifically nice man who didn't yell at his players and boy wasn't that nice and new offensive coordinator Jeff Mullen would UNLEASH THE UNBELIEVABLE PASSING ABILITY OF PAT WHITE.
These are the fruits of magnificent freedom: 214 yards and three points against Eastern Carolina. Even Michigan managed more. As you might imagine, West Virginia message boards have turned into Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome and will feature heavily in This Week In Schadefreude.
And hey, how about East Carolina? If they run the table do they get a shot at the national title? They've got Virginia on their "tour of teams with Virginia in their name who want no piece of this," and if they take 'em out that's three BCS teams, two of whom should/might win their conference.

Comments (Page 2 of 2)
dson, yes I would agree with some of your comments. As you pointed out, this article isn't about the UofM & it's also not about my Bucks playing like crap against Ohio. My point is that Brian could put his WVU logic on his favorate team (UofM) and Rich R., as they started the year 0-1 & slid by Miami of OH yesterday. I write Michigan as Mishitgan because in the spirit of fun that's what is done in a rivalry. I could also say, go bucks, Michigan sucks, Go Blow & Ann Arbor's a whore. Of course UofM fans bash Ohio state in similar fashion as well.... Anyway, Brian's article about WVU's coach is rediculas when writen in week 2 with the team 1-1. If writen in week 10 with a record of 1-9 I would have agreed
The bottom line is if Rich Rodriguez was coaching that game West Virginia would have won 49-24.
yes we do: can't spell c_cks__cker without OSU
West Virginia was ranked #8 based on their returning talent. West Virginians attacked Rich Rod with a torrent of "good riddance" hee-hawing, and in doing so talked up their new aw-shucks "coach" as the answer to everything that was wrong with RR. Their coach turned their #8-in-the-country talent into a doormat for non-BCS up-and-comers. Given the behavior of WVU fans re: RR's exit, a little Schadefreude is warranted.
Given that Brian admitted it was Schadenfreude, and never hid his Umich leanings (his blog is Mgoblog.com), I think everyone has swallowed a little too much of their chew. Spit, then exhale and calm down. Rip on Mich all you want, but they aren't exactly under-performing their talent at this point (unranked entering the season, remember?).
Exactly. Yeah, UM lost to Utah and got by Miami 16-6 (though they are banking on defense, which held miami without a TD. No one expect the offense to be high scoring). The reason the schadenfreude is so fun is because A) WVU fans plastered UM boards for months talking about everything from how RR impregnated a cheerleader to telling us how Ol' Coach Stew would take them to the promised land, and B) they had high expectations, a Heisman-candidate QB and an offense that was supposed to completely invalidate their defensive woes.
However, suddenly the vaunted WVU offense can only score 3 points against (an admittedly good, but still) a Conference USA opponent. No one expects anything of Michigan. WVU's hopes were as high as the eye can see. Pardon our revelry.
Brian can make all the negative, uninformed comments he wants! He's just taking a cue from WVU's athletic department!
woody-Get back on your medicine schedule. Your posts are laughable, the only thing you know about the University Of Michigan, other than you hate it, is that it is a school you couldn't get into, jerkoff (never end a sentence with a preposition). Stick to the things you are best at, making sure that all your Bucks have the right plates on their Escalades and keeping Pryor's Vette clean.
umm, maybe last year when they beat oklahoma in a bcs bowl, umm, idk but maybe that was a quality win. sooo if your a big 10 fan i wouldn't be talking about winning a bowl game cause that hasn't happened in a looonggg time dude.
Yeah. Heisman-winning QB Tim Tebow and the Gators showed up on an empty field and beat themselves 41-35. It was the damndest thing.
1 more point. There was much pre-season talk from Pat White (and teammates) about how great Coach Stew is and how he is letting Pat throw more and was a better coach than RR.
I think that was just smoke, huh?
The only reason for the schaden is the previous 7 months of carpet bombing done by the delusional half of the WVU fanbase. Your new coach looked like someone used the memory eraser in Men in Black on him.
Good thing he installed that new offense, the one that led WVU to victory against Oklahoma and Georgia Tech was old and unproven.
The WVU faithful proclaim that their defense lost a bunch of starters. Well, guess what, UM lost 6 players on offense that are currently in something I like to call the National Football League.
Enjoy it, WVU, no one has earned it more than you.
Sadly, I warned WV fans that they were making a mistake hiring a guy who was that age and had not been had any big time school seriously consider him for a head coaching vacancy. It will be a long year for WV fans. Your only consolation is that you play in a lousy conference, so you might end up with a winning record. The SEC foe you play (Auburn) will clean your clock. No need to prepare any couches for sacrifice. Prepare for the beatdown.
As for Brian Crackhead Cook's article, and the response of his crackhead nation, payback is coming soon enough- My GOD, who are you losers to talk to anyone else! Rich Rod is making enemies at Mich almost as quickly as Calihan did at Nebraska. Mich alum are as inbred as any in the south; they wont tolerate an outsider changing their program if he cant win soon, and NEWS FLASH, he wont win soon. HIS only saving grace is that Michicrap plays in a conference that sucks almost as much as the one in which WV resides. Mich might have a winning record this year because of their stink hole of a conference, but if they played in a real conference (like the SEC) they would be bottom feeders. Just wait til USC lays 50 on that pathetic excuse of a "Big Ten standardbearer" OSU.........(O as in O-fer the SEC) your conference will be the laughingstock of the country once again. Til saturday's beatdown, go snort some white stuff crackhead fans, and keep deluding yourself into thinking you know anything about college football.
First of all dson, I don't have time to read all the damn blogs. My point was that no matter who the coach is or was this year, they will have a hard time winning 7-8 games. I am not a Stewart supporter or hater. He is the coach, nothing I can do about it. I will support the team and losses don't cause me to jump off the deep end or the band wagon. Hell, I was in school for the Frank Cignetti years of 5-6, 5-6, 2-9, 5-6 and still went to almost all the home games. As far as Brian Cook, he rarely says anything nice about WVU. Do you have to defend him or is he capable of defending his point of view? He never seems to respond. Blue Seoul-I don't vote nor was I asked to vote for the New York Times or any other polls. Obviously the experts were wrong.
Great article - get Stewart out of here. He has NO CLUE - a high school coach would have better clock management. We can't score points with all this talent - it's a joke. Nice job Ed!!
