*Actually, RichRod said no such thing. In fact, what he said was "Not all is lost." Which, unfortunately, is not entirely accurate now that Michigan has fallen to Utah in the home season opener 25-23.
But I would venture to guess that he's immediately reconsidering his decision to jump from BCS-wheelhouse friendly West Virginia to Michigan, where his every move and each loss will be heavily criticized.
Of course, he knew that, because he watched Lloyd Carr get destroyed when he fell to Appalachian State in the opener last year. Which means that he also knew a loss to a non-BCS conference team in his home opener would be, um, not good.
Oddly though, watching him in the post game presser, he's talking like he's an NFL coach and not a college coach. He's mentioning "positive things" and gaining "experience" and frankly, that's not how it works in college football.
Michigan isn't donecakes for the season, I guess, so maybe there's some reason for optimism, and Rodriguez isn't the only one spitting it, to a degree.
So here's what we're looking forward to: Our defense playing like they did in the second half for the rest of the season, and our offense.. getting better.Of course, no one at MgoBlog is saying crazy things like "as long as they keep a good attitude, everything will be okay" or trying to point out that they "visual positives".
Wow, honestly, that's the first time Lou Holtz has popped up on my television screen and made things less awkward. In real game recap news: Utah destroyed Michigan in the first half then played conservative enough in the second to let the Wolverines crawl back in it.
Of course, when Steven Threet -- a much needed QB change -- got the Wolfies within two (after a missed conversion) he proceeded to play like he was a Fresno State alum in a Panthers uniform, slinging incomplete pass after incomplete pass over the last three possession.
Oh, and meanwhile, West Virginia, the number ocho nationally ranked team, absolutely rolled today. Awkward, I know.

It was Utah and they looked great, so it's hard to say too much. But if Michigan loses to Miami Ohio...um, we have a problem. And the way Michigan played today, I might actually bet on Miami Ohio...oh, unless they're going to make 15 penalties so that Michigan can score like Utah did.
Unfortunately, both those QBs at Michigan kind of suck, and I hate Rich Rod and the Big Ten Network for making it seem like Michigan could possibly be better than they were in pre-game comments. The fans looked more depressed than they did during/after App. St. This could seriously be a 7-6 year, and we know it now. These are not Michigan caliber players out there on offense--the offensive line couldn't stop Utah from getting right into the backfield at all--and the fact that Rich Rod is trying to force them into an offense that doesn't fit makes them worse. I never wanted him at Michigan to begin with, but now I definitely say for him to pack his crap and get the hell out of Ann Arbor. It's not because they lost--I can understand a new offense losing to Utah--but because he's in over his head and on his way to ruining our traditions (like decades and decades straight bowl games, for one).

I have never seen any coach, put a system in regarless if he has the players to run it. Usually its to the strengths of its players. Its not to say that as he goes he recruits the types of players he wants but to use players in a system that doesn't utilize their talent is dumb. That and all of the traditions this man scraped...he loses 5 this year and 4 next. Its over.

Hey Michigan Fans a note of advice from one of the few WVU fans who does not hate RRod. ( OK he is a bum, but he is a bum who really does know how to coach.) he did the same thing when he came to WVU following Don Nehlen (only the greatest coach to ever wear the blue and gold. You can find his bust in the college football hall of fame) He trashed the coach he followed, basically ran off everybody who didn't fit his "SYSTEM" and alienated everybody in sight. He lost big the first 2 years, but then a funny thing happened. His sytem kicked in and he started winning. I still don't love him. he finds something that works and beats it to death and he is so so in big games ( Yeah GA, Louisville, Clemson, Boo Louisville, Pitt and S.Fla) So hang in there he can coach and it will get better, but for this year break out the old Bo highlight films and watch those on saturdays because this year is going to be ugly!

If we can make a bowl game I will be happy. No one should be expecting us to make the rose bowl or anything but I'd also love to see us not end up 3-9. I'm more than willing to struggle for a few years so we can get good than permanently sit in the 8-4/9-3 range for the rest of time

Congratulations, Rich Rodriguez. Hope this luck continues for you. I'm sorry for UM fans, but do not worry, as your Athletic Director will not allow it to last the two years it will take Rich to get "his" system working. Then Rich can go to High School coaching and talk about the "what-could-have-been-days". I understand the fans supporting Rich, but please realize this is not a nice person. He tried to leave WVU before the GT bowl game to go to Alabama(didn't work out). Then, when UM was in such a pinch, he deserted WVU before the
OK bowl game which hopefully does not work out.
Sour grapes-most likely. Easily forgotten-less likely. Hang in there UM fans-this won't last long.

I actually came out of the Big House yesterday after a loss for the first time thinking, 'There are some good things I can take out of this". Yeah, we lost, and yeah, Nick Sheridan looked abysmal, with Threet looking much better until the game was on the line, But the defense was lights-out in the second half (I don't think the conservative Utah playcalling included "get Johnson sacked over and over, and also, don't try to score even when Michigan is within two").
The QBs multiplied their level of experience by infinity times the number of snaps they took, as did most of the O-line. I don't think fake Miami stands a chance if UM plays like they did yesterday, at least in the second half once 75% of our offense had taken a single college snap. Everyone desperately wants UM to fail miserably, but Utah is no App. St., nor is this the team that lost to them.
Crow while you can, Michigan has left the slow decline of the Carr years and is now undergoing the growing pains under Rodriguez. Which, for you SEC-types, precede growth.

Bro you are right on, we need to give Rich Rod time. He knew coming in as did we that he did not have the right talent. McGuffie, Shaw and a few others will be the future of the Wolverines. Also have 3 of the top 7 dual threat passing QB's coming in next year. Rich Rod is a top coach and needs our support, I am a Michigan Fan through and through, but I cant stand Michigan fans who dont support a new coach after one game. Carr deserved to retire after the horrible record against The Ohio State Luckeyes, but we need to support Rich Rod.

Do they use punctuation in WV? This post is totally incoherent, filled with errors (for the love of god people of the internet, they + are = they're, not their or there), and contains phrases like "we will wee". You should be forced to read this post over and over, breathing only where you have a comma or period.

I'm not sure you were able to see over the tooting of your own horn that WVU played VILLANOVA yesterday, while UM played a team picked to be a contender in it's own conference, and that won it's last bowl game. A senior laden team that has run the same system for the past 3 years.
The UM offense looked like a team with a QB learning a new system and that has never had a start. Wow !! that's exactly the case. The defense was accountable for 7 points. The others can be attributed to field position. The Utah PK kicked 4 FG's... hmm .. that must have meant 4 stops. Weird.
UM isn't done. Get it in while you can. This won't last long.
Your season will last as long as Pat White stays healthy. Pray for that.
