When last we heard from rap impresario Josh Jarboe, he was being dismissed from the Oklahoma football team for having bad timing, questionable rapping skills, and a moron of a friend who posted the rap video on YouTube. Fine, Oklahoma felt they took a chance on the kid after an arrest for having a firearm. He showed more bad judgment in rapping about more firearms and using foul language, embarrassing the school and football program. Okay, time for everyone to move on.
Well, Jarboe did. He decided to go play for Troy in the Sun Belt Conference. Closer to home. Less attention. In a way, it makes sense as Oklahoma Coach Bob Stoops in the announcement that Jarboe was dismissed from the football team said, "We hope he can move forward in a positive manner."
Probably not a bad idea. Of course, Oklahoma isn't making it that easy.
According to Troy coach Larry Blakeney, Trojans wide receiver Josh Jarboe currently is not eligible to play this season after transferring from Oklahoma earlier this week.Nice. Technically the NCAA rules are the problem, and Troy is appealing to the NCAA. After all,the NCAA is so reasonable about these things.
Because OU told Troy officials that they didn't refuse him admission for the fall, Blakeney said, Jarboe is now being treated as a transfer student by the NCAA, with this season being his sit-out year.
Still Oklahoma doesn't seem too interested in making it easy for Jarboe to "move forward in a positive manner." They dismissed him from the team -- which means losing the scholarship -- but also says since he was admitted, he is a transfer.
Again, he was dismissed from the football team. He didn't quit the team. No scholarship. Left Oklahoma before the fall semester as expected. So, now he's a transfer. Kafka sends his regards.

NCAA coaches aren't really for kids. Everyone should know that by now. It's not like Troy is a big Oklahoma rival.
This Jarboe guy may be able to play football but he is not the sharpest guy around. He signs with OU in February and gets arrested for TWO felonies in March...the gun he had on school property was stolen! He got his chance when OU didn't get rid of him then. This is the NCAA, not the NFL! I'm sure there is something in the fine print of the signing documents about felonies. So does Jarboe lay low and let things quiet down. No, he starts rappin' and recordin' and putting it on YouTube. DOH! You don't keep getting chances in this life. Even athletes need to learn that. He signed with OU in February and the scholarship and admission process began. Classes start next week. Of course he would be admitted to the univeristy this late in the summer. OU is just reporting the facts. It's the NCAA rules that get into eligibility to play. So write about the NCAA, they make the rules. Coach Stoops is not "screwing" Jarboe as your graphic implies. Jarboe is responsible for his own behavior. Don't blame his problems on OU and Coach Stoops.
I agree with the above poster. OU is, and has been, in a few scuffles with the NCAA (read Bomar and the mysterious 40 hour work week) so they're trying to play by the rules. Technically, Jarboe was enrolled at OU; thus, he leaves, gets kicked off, carried away by a rogue wave...whatever, he's a transfer in the eyes of NCAA. Troy is appealing the process and could possibly let him play, so there's no need to blame Stoops.
Whats the big deal? OU football has been a cesspool since the depression. Cheating, guns rape and we havent even mentioned salaried players. Mens basketball was not too far behind. If you can ball, run a 4.2 40 you can play at OU regardless of your rapsheet, for every one guy dismissed there is a couple on the depth chart with the same history.
YOUR GREEN IS SHOWING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
rock knows not of what he talks. Stoops has cleaned up the program and runs a clean ship, that is why he had no choice but to dismiss the idiot Jarboe who is brainless beyond belief. Dollars to a doughnut he wqinds up booted out of troy and goes to gray bar U before he is 25. However Jarboe is very young and troubled so his idiocy might be understood, whats your excuse rock. My coach when I was a NCAA football player was very pro player. Switzer wasa loved by his players and so is Stoops. LB maybe you had bad luck or maybe you don't know what your talking about
