This will break the hearts of college football fans everywhere, I'm sure: Tim Tebow will not be your 2008 Playboy All-American quarterback. When asked by Playboy, Assistant Sports Information Director Zack Higbee chose not to submit Tebow's name for nomination. Gary Cole, senior VP for the racy magazine, felt the decision was short-sighted..
"I don't hate it when someone has all the facts, understands what our weekend and our history is and then chooses not to attend,'' Cole said. "I do hate it when someone bases their choice on false or incomplete information. ... The weekend (in Phoenix) is completely wholesome. I have always brought my children whether they were 1 or 16 years old. It's a really special few days when these fellows get the opportunity to meet each other and spend a little time together. Friendships are formed at these weekends that last a lifetime."
Tebow's religious beliefs and missionary work make him a bit of an odd fit for anything associated with Playboy, regardless of how 'wholesome' the event may be. Then again, Tebow might not have been selected anyway.
"To be honest, Pat White was my choice from very early on ... actually the end of last season,'' Cole said.
I'm guessing Pat White is also willing to say 'yes' to the nomination, which could be why Cole likes him so much.

religion has nothing to do with it. playboy selected tommie harris as an all american and he declined to attend. i guess its hard for florida fans to accept but no tebow isnt that great. as stated in another post he would warm the bench at texas, oklahoma, georgia, w. virginia, southern cal, missouri, and even kansas. no way tebow would beat any of those programs starting qbs out.

Wow, that was funny. Got anymore statements cfb.
I'm not even a Gator fan, but it is plain to see that Tebow is a phenomenal talent. He did whatever was needed to win without a viable running game. Wish he was our QB.
BTW, I'm a Cane fan. Start hating now.

mike im glad the truth is humorous to you. since you stated you are a miami fan i understand your lack of football knowledge but of those programs i named not one needs a running qb except w. virginia and no tebow isnt better than white. tebow isnt a better passer than stafford, sanchez, bradford, daniel, reising or mccoy and as stated hes not a better qb than pat white. as stated tebow would warm the bench at those named programs. now i have 1 question for you mike. are my statements as homurous as virginias 48-0 ass whippin of miami in the final game at the old orange bowl?

Your comments are always comical. You're hatred of Tim Tebow makes me wonder how much of it is homophobic overcompensation, but let's not digress from picking apart your argument.
While Tebow may or may not start at any of your aforementioned schools (Mizzoo, Kansas, and WVU would all have losing records in the SEC, btw). You fail to mention that no quarterback at any of those schools would start at Florida. You also fail to mention that none of those quarterbacks were higher rated prospects than backup Cameron Newton, let alone Tim Tebow. You also fail to mention that 4 of those schools (texas, oklahoma, usc, and georgia) tried their arsses off to get Tebow.
LOL - but thanks for the comedy.
