LSU's fantastic quarterback talent, Ryan Perilloux, has finally been dismissed from the team:Head coach Les Miles says that Perrilloux "didn't fulfill his obligation as an LSU student-athlete." He is declining additional comment. Thus ends a tumultuous, occasionally brilliant, and often frustrating tour in the bayou for Perilloux, who led LSU to a victory over Tennessee in last year's SEC title game. Perilloux was slated to start in 2008.
LSU said Friday that Perrilloux is expected to finish out the spring semester at the school.
What did Perrilloux in? Simply put, it was his nose for trouble. Perrilloux was suspended no less than three times in the past 12 months, and was becoming a major distraction for the team even in the off-season when he was late for team practice, suspended, and then reinstated.
Despite his talent, Perrilloux would have been a poor senior leader for LSU. FanHouse is pleased with Les Miles' decision: despite forcing Tiger fans to endure a season without one of their key playmakers, Miles is sending a signal that LSU football is more important than one player.
As for Perrilloux? He will probably land on his feet. Any number of college programs will be anxious to acquire the dual-threat quarterback's services despite his off-field transgressions. After transferring and sitting out a year, expect to see Perilloux pop up at another Div-IA (excuse me, FBS) program.

Maybe Ryan has an ego that made him think he was Big Man On Campus and he could push his former coach patience to the limit. A change of scenery will determine if Ryan will change his attitude or be the "bad guy".

I'm a diehard LSU football fan in Evansville, Indiana; but I couldn't believe that Ryan is throwing away his future! What kind of an idiot is he? Is he becoming another Dennis Rodman of LSU? I believe that he will look back 25 years from now and regret it, but will he if he have any common sense?
Now I’m glad that I don’t have any of his autographed football or jersey!
Miles, you did the right thing of kicking Ryan off the team, even though you didn’t want to do it so that took guts. Don’t give up. I will be rooting for you all the way from Indiana! Therefore, I hope you’ll remember this little input from me for your football career in the future in case if you feel like failing: “You may fail because you have not succeeded YET.”
This includes the Ohio State football team. Don’t give up on winning the national championship. I know that Ohio State has an excellent football program for many years.

It's an all too familiar pattern in college sports. Someone with exceptional athletic talents is given the opportunity to parlay those into an education & possibly a future in professional sports yet they make MULTIPLE bad decisions despite the warning signs. Although I'm from Louisiana I'm not an especially strong LSU fan but I applaud Coach Miles for making this tough decision. He had given RP many chances & he kept pushing the limit. It's nice to finally see a coach who puts his program above ONE player. It's happened before w/the Tigers FB team ( remember Cecil Collins? ) & who can forget Nebraska's Tom Osborne reinstating Lawrence Phillips JUST in time for '96 Fiesta Bowl. I'm certain that RP will find some FBS in need of his talents & I wish him well & hope that he learns from his mistakes @ LSU.
