This is a good week for LSU coach Les Miles. He's certainly basking in LSU's BCS National Championship. He's miraculously not at beloved alma mater Michigan while they endure bad press for questionable academic practices within the athletic department. And he got a big raise.
So big, in fact, that it makes him the highest-paid coach in the SEC by $1,000 over rival and former LSU coach Nick Saban.
Saban, who is guaranteed $3.75 million, was the SEC's highest-paid coach. Miles' new contract states he will be paid no less than the highest-paid coach at a public university in the conference, plus $1,000.Sometimes in the SEC there's no need to be sneaky when it feels so good to be obvious. This is one bold, blunt example. I guess it pays to not be able to pronounce the word Arkansas so long as you are holding that glass football.
Side note for LSU fans: that's an AP National Championship Trophy in the picture. USC won one in 2004, you won one in 2008. Just so you know that we know that your coach knows it counts. That is all.

USC should not have gotten one in 2004. Had LSU played USC, they would have killed them.

lsu and the it's fanbase will slap theirselves in the head so hard it will echo around the nation within a couple of years. miles used saban's talent to obtain the nc. UK and Ark beat lsu, so what does that say about miles and coaching strategy? lsu is starting to spiral downward!! Give it a couple of years and that will be back to just mediocre.
ROLL TIDE ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!

So if I can get a photo of Les Miles holding a framed copy of the Sports Illustrated procaliming LSU #1 will it count as another "recognized" National Championship?
Apparantly you have some doubts about the legitimacy of the AP championship because you are bringing it up without prompting in a story that had nothing to do with USC. And don't you pick the photos anyway?
Methinks you doth protest to much.
Just admit you are a USC weenie and move on.

You Bama fans need to quit whining about "Saban's recruits." The fact is he did not COACH this team, Les Miles did. Saban did not take this team to a BCS title. I think it's simply stupid of all you fans to say so. Nobody was saying anything about this when he won the Sugar Bowl the previous year, only now that you Bama fans need to claim some glory for your coach. 3 years from now you'll hate him just like you hate your last 3 coaches. Jesus, LET IT GO!

LES MILES !!! WHAT A JACK ASS This year will tell what kind of coach he is. He did coach Saban's recruits but the question is , How good is his recruits ???
We all know Georgia was the best team in the SEC at the end of the season. LSU will have a rude awakening. Miles should have bolted for Michigan. With the quality of football in the SEC, Miles will be lost. Fulmer and Miles will be the coaches on the "HOT SEAT" come 2009.
Thanks
Steve

So, what happens if Saban has a clause in HIS contract that says "he will be paid no less than the highest-paid coach at a public university in the conference, plus $1,000."
