Puuuuuuuuuuuuure fiction.Refresher: a high school football recruit out of Nevada named Kevin Hart made a commitment to California several days ago. Problem was, Cal hadn't recruited him. Neither had any other schools. That prompted an investigation and the involvement of law enforcement.
The story soon centered around a mysterious recruiter who allegedly duped the poor high school senior.
Turns out we were all duped. SportsByBrooks is reporting (via the Reno Gazette-Journal) that Kevin Hart has admitted making it all up.
"I wanted to play D-I ball more than anything. When I realized that wasn't going to happen, I made up what I wanted to be reality. I am sorry for disappointing and embarrassing my family, coaches, Fernley High School, the involved universities and reporters covering the story."
Now the school district "continues to conduct its internal investigation into how so many people were duped by the high school senior."
I betcha that'll look good on his transcripts.

That was pretty funny. I'm glad the kid admitted that he lied. At the same time, everyone who fell for it got what they deserved. High school and college sports are taken so serious in some circles. Heck, they're willing to televize where some recruit is going to school. Maybe it'll teach people to not take college sports so serious.

Geez, this kid needs some help. What a pipe dream, and those media people who showed up need to take a chill pill as well. Here's an idea, how about televising kids who get academic scholarships?

This is pretty funny. The kid has a future in script writing. The story is a real life version of Ferris Beuhler, Risky Business, and American Pie. No, Kevin Hart won't be playing Division I football, but I'll bet he somehow capitalizes on his fifteen minutes of fame. William Hung is still a somebody for having zero talent. But Kevin Hart showed ingenuity, guts, and creativity. When the movie comes out, I'll bet Senator Arlen Specter gets written into the ending.

give the guy a break. I know what hes going through. I played ball all throughout highschool, real damn good ball too. Come the end of senior year best offer i got was to go play D2 ball. I'm not justifying what he did but i totally understand what he's going through. Only difference is with that freakish size, for him not to be able to play D1 anywhere he must not be too good. Most schools will take big men like that if they see potential.

Can't understand anyone who would want to play football at either California or Oregon that bad. But then again, maybe they should take a hard look at the kid. He'd fit right in.
