I hate Louisiana Nazis.
This has been on Deadspin already so there might be little point in reposting it, but my God, this is remarkable. And really really racist. And sad. And will hopefully cause Ryan Perriloux to immediately transfer somewhere far away:
No doubt this phenomenon is not restricted to LSU fans, but that's a lot of racism from like six guys without even the tiniest hint of dissent. And yet they idolize Glenn Dorsey. Tools. Someone please find out where that guy who "has a job" works and remove said job from him.
Hey, look at that: no broad painting of entire sections of the country. Good job, me.

Less-than-eloquent articulation but their concerns regarding generations of african-americans who make transitory housing permanent bastions of illicit trade are valid. Cref. contemporary Detroit. I don't blame them for deriding, in the words of their mayor, "chocolate city." The hurricane is an opportunity for reform that should not be lost.

That's absolutely disgusting. These people are going to be voting in the election which is equally disturbing. I personally speak out again anyone who acts like this in private or public, friend or enemy. Way to represent your town and university. I'm sure everyone, including your own inbred family, was very proud of the way you cowardly hid behind the hundred dollar shades, wouldn't say where you worked or lived, and stereotyped an entire race. Truely the essence of being a kitten. ;) Enjoy your 90 IQ and tall boys of busch morons. AC work! SOOOO CLASSY! haha.

with the exception of the one guy dropping the n-bomb, were their statements that far off base? you refer to them as nazis, but if you don't afford these men the right to think and speak freely what does that make you? i ask you to look up some of the video from post katrina new orleans, you know the ones of people looting. notice they aren't scavenging for food and water, but instead clothes shoes and booze. what about the people who broke into hospitals and stole drugs? the ones who shot at national guardsmen and their helicopters? oh yeah, and ask the women who were raped in the superdome if we shouldn't try to fix the culteral prolem there. it all starts with housing. where did you grow up?

I lived in New Orleans. This mindset is a lot more predominant among whites than you think -- remember, David Duke, former head of the KKK was voted into Congress, not too long ago. Ugly, yes. Surprising, no.

People are entirely overreacting to this. One douche drops an N-bomb, but the guy who does most of the talking essentially says that people capable of working should do so. I don't see how that's "disgusting."
"And will hopefully cause Ryan Perriloux to immediately transfer somewhere far away"
Transfer somewhere far away to get away from racism? You mean the moon?

Sim, if you think that there was only one offensive person in that video, you may want to check who you keep for company you moron. You're obviously on the wrong side of this arguement and really support this kind of stone age behavior and intellect. Do yourself a favor and either die, or pick up a book and jump on into the 21st century, cause you currently are distinguishing yourself as an ape.

You're right, self reliance does seem to be becoming a stone age intellect.

Someone mentioned David Duke on this blog. While we're at it, let us not forget the honorable Mayor Ray "school bus" Nagin. Five months after Katrina, Nagin called New Orleans a "chocolate city" and proclaimed it would be "chocolate again." He also stated that New Orleans "will be a majority African-American city. It's the way God wants it to be."
Less than a year after the hurricane, the people of New Orleans elected Nagin to a second term as mayor. Activist groups bussed in Black voters who were still living out of the city, to participate in the election. Interestingly, when Nagin was first elected in 2002, he received 85% of the white vote and 40% of the black vote. In 2006, however, he received 80% of the black vote and 20% of the white vote.
Instead of bringing the city together in a time of crises, mayor Nagin essentially separated it.
It goes without saying that the guys in the video are jerks. Maybe Ray Nagin should also "pick up a book and jump on into the 21st century".

Why would Ryan Perriloux want to transfer because of these guys? I don't see the connection? Were these guys talking about Ryan? No. Were they only talking about blacks? No. Are they ignorant? Yes. Is Ryan possibly going to become ignorant because of them? No. Ryan has the best job in Louisiana as the QB for LSU. Those morons WISH they had Ryan's job. So, again, why would Ryan want to transfer?
Racism? Is it because there are LSU fans who are racist? Are you assuming there are not racist fans at USC, Arkansas, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, OU, OSU, Florida, or Miami? What, are you ignorant too? Are you assuming that Ryan did not know such people exists all over America, including New Orleans? Are you assuming Ryan is stupid, or what?
No, I am glad that the ignorance of these men was posted for all the world to see. But to think that anyone is surprised is either dishonesty on your part or naivety. To attempt to portray all LSU fans as racist is to be as ignorant and small minded as the opinions of these men.
At least LSU doesn't have racism among the coaches, teammates, or athletic department. That is why LSU continues to be the leader among colleges in the South. Ryan is smart. Ryan will proudly stay at LSU.

Seriously, for those of us who grew up near New Orleans know that this type of stuff is not just ignorant racism. It is more complex than that. Louisiana's population has the second largest proportion of black Americans (32.5%) in the United States, behind neighboring Mississippi (36.3%). The political corruption has pitted the citizens of Louisiana against each other for years. Louisiana with its oil companies and it ports should be one of the most wealthy states in the Union. The people of Louisiana have incredible work ethics, have strong families, and are very religious. But through the years the economy has been raped by the local governments and corrupt politicians. People are truly angry with each other over this kind of stuff. It seems to most people that the harder they work to improve their economy and their schools and their way of living, the more certain parts of the society still from the "average" and give to the "rich" and use the "poor" do it. So the poor become despised by everyone.
For example: The Port of South Louisiana, located on the Mississippi between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, is the largest volume shipping port in the Western Hemisphere and 4th largest in the world. It is the largest bulk cargo port in the world. But the per capita personal income in LA is US$30,952, ranking 41st in the United States.
Most of you may think that racism bred the hatred and ignorance that you heard on the video. But as someone who lived for over 25 years in Louisiana, I know that hatred and frustration has bred racism. I have noticed that people aren't born racist, they learn it. And it seems the political machines of LA has continue to create and promote racism and then use it to divide and conquer the citizens.
And if anyone thinks this is an LSU issue then they are more ignorant than the men in the video. LSU is known for its diversity. You should research this and you will be surprised. No, this is more of a Louisiana-politics issue.
By the way, the residents of LA just voted in a NON-WHITE governor. So much for racism being as big as some who dislike LSU would like to portray it to be with such a video.
And those who think this video is a "Southern" thing are also completely ignorant. I currently live in the West, Southern California no less, and I have seen the same type of talk among cultured, educated Californians about Mexicans and illegal immigrants. So lets not lose focus on what this video really proves and that is this: the men in this video are highly frustrated, simple-minded, racist (especially the one who used the "N" word), and just happen to be LSU fans. But if the camera-person would have done a little more research she would have found African-Americans would were just as frustrated, simple-minded, racist in many ways, and were also LSU fans who probably love Miles, Flynn, and Hester!

By the way, the US is only 12% African American. But nearly one quarter of the student body at LSU is of a minority. So don't try to make a case that LSU fans are racists -- that is just ignorant of the facts. The only case that can be made from this video is there are four or five drunk LSU fans and some of them are racist. I would dare say there is more evidence on the internet of racist, ignorant bloggers. So maybe we should just write a blog entitled "Racists love Brian Cook" or "Brian Cook is a racist." No, we would not make such a intellectual jump or write such a foolish blog post... but apparently Mr. Cook would.

Who ARE you, Brian Cook? And WHY would AOL even allow you to post this nonsense? I grew up in Louisiana, lived in Memphis, and had children who attended other SEC schools in the South. Give us all a break! Idiots are everywhere. Are you only a sore loser who needs to bring a National Championship school down to make yourself look better? AOL, please remove Brian Cook as a blogger!

Well, Tom, I guess you are just another ignorant racist yourself. You and Brian must just sit around and look for stupid videos (for example, an earlier blog by you) to post all day instead of trying to use your intelligence to try to encourage people to get along. Get a life!

Brian probably found this on deadspin, not "sitting around looking for stupid videos."
Granted, I did not see this post before it was "reworded" , but unless you're one of the guys on this video, nothing is said that should offend you. It doesn't imply that all Southerners or SEC fans or LSU fans are racists.

This is the snide work of an internet blogger; there's a reason something like this would never be printed in a newspaper.
Other than the drunk guys use of the N-word, the majority of what was said makes sense to anyone who has first-hand experience with a decaying inner-city in America. The welfare system and liberal America's attitude are just as disgusting as someone using the N-word.
"Oh, my God, you want them to get a job? You want them to learn responsibility, take charge of their community, and fight the good fight? You want people to actually wake up early in the morning and go to work? You want people to stop living off the government? You want people to use foresight before they get pregnant with a baby they can't afford? That's so mean! You're so racist!"
Give me a freaking break. The girl interviewing these guys is also obnoxious for trying to instigate crap. Let her work for three weeks in one of New Orleans' 9th Ward schools, or make her work in social services (along with Brian Cook) in the same area, and we'll see how much sympathy she has when she learns that some people, no matter how much help you give them, won't ever take responsibility for their lives. The truth is there are many lazy, weak-willed people in this country of all races. If someone complains about these people, and the said group happens to be black, for example, the complainer is called a racist.
Totally unfair and totally biased.
Ever worked in the inner-city, Brian Cook? Ever taught kids in the inner-city? Ever known anybody who actually grew up in the ghettos of New Orleans, Mobile, Los Angeles, Detroit, etc.? Ever had a friend or loved one robbed, raped, assaulted, or murdered by a gangbanger? Ever worked with a kid or known a teenager who died in a gang-shooting? Ever spent hours of your life working to help kids who are starving for discipline, who are starving for someone to teach them responsibility because no one has ever done so?
Have you ever spent a great deal of time coaching, teaching, tutoring, or working with kids from areas like this?
No, probably not, because it's obvious you have no idea how rough some of these conditions are. You clearly exemplify how badly the liberal's perception of "urban blight" has been distorted.
It's always somebody else's fault. Nobody accepts responsibility anymore. Nobody wants to get off of his or her ass to make his life better. They just want to bitch about some drunk LSU fan, who's at the National Championship game for crying out loud (why bother somebody with this at a football game?), discussing a frustrating topic.
Some of the things those guys said were insensitive and the one jerk used the N-word (which, being a white guy who works in these conditions, I'll be the first to tell you I've been called White Boy, honky, Gringo thousands of times and I always try to forgive those who say it), but the gist of their argument makes sense to anybody who has ever worked for the government to help poor, ghetto people. We can only do so much. Sooner or later, people need to be responsible. I wake up at four A.M. most days and I don't go to bed until after eleven P.M. I could make excuses about how tired I am or how much my back hurts, but that's irresponsible. That kind of attitude is not what gets you anywhere.
You should be ashamed of yourself for posting this on AOL. Grow up.
