Great- unless Virginia Tech happens to have a guy named Ronnie Vannucci buried in their depth chart, looks like no more The Killers cracks at their expense. Not after Brandon Flowers confirmed long-standing suspicion that he'd be shuffling off to the pros even if he wasn't projected as a first-round guy.The NFL Advisory board projects Flowers as a second-round pick, but the only thing that makes me wonder is how totally sweet being on the NFL Advisory board that projects draft status. And that they feel the need to circumvent Mel Kiper. But either way, the two-time All-American Flowers appears to be less of a character risk than recent Hokie DB's of note such as DeAngelo Hall or Jimmy Williams. I mean, god only knows what could go down if the Falcons take him as well. You might find the Buccaneers or Panthers scrambling to draft Matt Ryan. And just so you're prepared to slag on the ACC one more time in 2008, VT will now replace seven of their eleven starters on defense, and it's more than likely the guys you've heard of. And yet, they're likely STILL far and away the frontrunner in their division. And you thought the pre-2007 Big XII North was a hoot...

I'd have to disagree with you there. Tech only won it's division on the last game of the season against UVA. That game wasn't a blow out, in fact it was pretty close until late. UVA isn't losing any impact players on offense. Santi is going to be gone but that's ok because we're deep at the TE spot. Peerman will be back from his foot injury and Ogletree will be back next year also. Along with more experienced Mikell Simpson who has proven himself a offensive threat and a much improved Jameel Sewell. On defense we're losing Chris Long but Fitzgerald was phenomenal also and should be even bigger and better. With Vtech's defense losing so many of it's starters it's hard seeing them being half as good as last year.

Hey, I'd love to agree with you, but considering UVA's offensive profile, losing (at least) two starters on the O-line is a huge impact, particularly when one of them is Branden Albert. And even if Ogletree's at 100%, Sewell has yet to prove he can throw past ten yards with any sort of consistency and no other receiver has established himself. The Simpson/Peerman thing will be intriguing, but it could be Pearman/Lundy all over again, in that teams that take away the short game will beat Virginia (see: VT damn near every year) because they can't stretch the field.
Also, the schedule's a lot tougher and all those close wins probably are gonna come back to haunt them. I'd be cautiously optimistic considering the rest of the Coastal is nowhere near contending, but based on history, you won't see too many mags picking Virginia over Tech in the preseason.

Here we go again still stinging from another bowl loss the hoos are already talking next year, sound familiar. As far a Tech is concerned it will be the same old same old, another win over Va. FYI, the horrible record of the ACC in BCS games, don't blame the Hoos, never played in one! By the way not a Hokie either.
