Pretty much everyone who doesn't scream WOO PIG SOOIE for Arkansas football doesn't think too highly of Bobby Petrino (just click his name for all the recap).
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, all Petrino left behind was a letter taped up at the Falcons' Flowery Branch facility. Wanna see a pic of it? Go ahead.
"Atlanta Falcons players;
Out of my respect for you, I am letting you know, with a heavy heart, I resigned today as the Head Coach of the Atlanta Falcons. This decision was not easy but was made in the best interest of me and my family. While my desire would have been to finish out what has been a difficult season for us all, circumstances did not allow me to do so. I appreciate your hard work and wish the best.
Sincerely,
Bobby Petrino"
Now look at the photo of the letter after DB Lawyer Milloy edited it. He crossed out Petrino's name and wrote the word "coward" instead. Excellent. You'd have the be a coward to not be able to face the guys that you demanded to fight for you.

Looks like Milloy misspelled "Schrutebag."

Let's see. You guys harrass and vilify Saben when he says he will stay and he leaves, because he has a change of heart. You harrass Petrino because he leaves prior to the end of the season. What was he to do? Stay and say that he's leaving at the end of the year. You guys would have made life unbearable for him the entire time asking questions. Sportwriters in general are like all newspeople, They want to MAKE stories and not REPORT stories. The players in many sports lie about things including their drug usage. Even the ex-President of the United States lies to the Grand Jury and yet, for some unwritten reason you guys cut them slack in the media. Sure, Petrino probably should have stayed for the remainder of the season, but for actually what reason? His word or his honor? Either way he would have been damned by the sports media for cover stories. I'm not really sure that you would have stayed under the same circumstances. I do not like the man and his habit of leaving teams and contracts early. If it was because he thought it would be something better for him and his family, what's wrong with that?. I, for one, can not really blame him for leaving at this time. The only reason Miles is still at LSU is that he has seen how you sportswriters go after coaches that leave programs early or have a change of heart about what they want to really do with their lives. If you guys want to really change things then do what you can to have the college and pro seasons end at approximately the same time. That way a coach could leave without being harrassed for three months for an answer about if they are going to take a new job or not. I have witnessed how you guys hound people at press conferences over and over and over again. You will not take a coaches responce of "no comment" or "i will address the question after the season." You have to have an answer now and when it does come, the coach is vilified whether he stays or leaves. That's like having your cake and eating it too. But, you have you story and increased sales don't you?

Wayne, staying for the remainder of your FIRST season as head coach is what a PROFESSIONAL should do. Sorry but the people who were in close contact with Petrino on a daily basis, (i.e Arthur Blank, his team) seem to mirror the exact sentiments that the media, as you say it, make. He told Blank face to face that he is staying, turned around and quit, then left his team a note in the locker room of his decision??? If you can't understand the lack of professionalism and class, then I wouldn't expect a raise from your boss anytime soon...

Where is it written that you must have absolute loyalty to an employer. In most cases they are looking to replace you moments after the hire. Just business!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone who followed the University of Louisville's football team while "Where's the nearest BIG contract" Petrino was here is not surprised he bolted the NFL when things got tough. Hell, that bastard denied meeting secretly with Auburn officials near Louisville until he got caught and was forced to tell the truth by the Louisville press. And, he even had the balls to attempt to interview with LSU WHILE HE WAS ENROUTE TO TAKING LOUISVILLE TO A BOWL GAME! I mean, we're talking while he was WITH THE TEAM AS THEY TRAVELED! So, Arkansas fans, when he bolts well before the period of his contract expires, don't blame anyone but the face in the mirror for hiring that freak. And I thought Arknsas was a quality school......
