I earlier told you about CBS analyst Steve Beuerlein saying "USC thugs, man" over live air during the Bengals-Titans game today. Here is the video accompanying it.
Like I said before, who knows what Beuerlein was saying right before that comment. Maybe he said "I will take on anyone who says that those are a bunch of USC thugs, man." Maybe not. Either way, Beuerlein got caught breaking the #1 rule in TV work: if you've got nothing nice to say, make sure no one can hear you.
As Bill Macatee says when the broadcast came back, "LenDale White wishes he had that brief emotional explosion back." Maybe ol' Steve wishes he had that comment back.
Hat tip to Trojan Wire for finding the video.

Thugs???,, Kind of like that ND player that went helmet to helmet against Stanford's QB in a cheap shot, or Linus Clausen acting like he did something after they game. In that Stanford game I saw ND players acting like Miami of the 80s.

Before everyone jumps up and down, it should be mentioned that Beuerlein does have history in Southern California that frames his perception. Also he played at Notre Dame which is a historical rival of USC.

Go easy on old Steve. Some Trojans are thugs, some are not. I know four who attended my high school, and none of them are thugs.

PUUHHLEEESSEE, Mike. That shot against Stanford was unintentional and you damn well know it. Not like LenDale, who blatently kicked a guy while he was on the ground today. And before you go around putting your foot in your mouth calling ND thugs, check the graduation rates... ND actually gets there football players a diploma- tell me, what year did LenDale White get his from SC?

Oh, and how many academic all-americans does USC have on the field???
Oh yeah, please tell me the last time an ND player was arrested for sexual assault, rape, assault with a deadly weapon or battery... because that seems to be a problem more endemic to Pete Carrol's teams (along with blatent recruiting and NCAA compliance violations).
I'm sorry, remind me again which team resembles Miami of the '80s?

Burlein was a nothing player. He is worse as an announcer. However since he went to ND we should all think he is better than everyone else. BS. Next year ND will not win three games, they will win four. SC will hammer them by 30+ AGAIN!

The comments were out of line . If Steve was a true broadcast pro , he would know that you just call the game and keep your personal thoughts to your self when on the air .
You can make your thoughts known only after the game and not while it is being played .

Everybody should just relax. If that how he feels that's how he feels. If he was having fun then that's cool too. It's getting so people in this country are just too, too up-tight,- remember freedom of speech everyone? I do. A lot of the people who're yelling the loudest about this, are the same ones who are not open minded enough to listen to someone who is not politically correct or who is of a diseenting opinion.

MOST of college football players certianly aren't top students or representative of the average students attending the college.

Give me a break. Back in the day, when the Miami Hurricanes owned everyone, the announcers referred to the 'Canes football players in many different derogotory names. "Thugs" would have been a compliment.

People, people!
Now, you are getting off topic. Since when is the word THUG indicative of race. It says nothing of the person in question, other than they have certain uncouth qualities. It's also about as light an insult possible, leading a reader to think of roughty and party type behavior, general low level law breaking for noise and such. Big Whoopty Dooh!!!!!

Did anyone catch Bryant Gumble saying on the air just prior to the NFL game say "Is He drinking on the Job Again"? It was at the begining of I believe Thur.'s Game with Chris Stallingsworth before they realized they were live!
