Finito. No mas. Retire the jersey time. Done.Dennis Dixon completely tore the ACL in his left knee in Oregon's win over Arizona State on Nov. 3, and convinced Oregon's coaches and doctors to let him try and play in the Arizona game last night. It was fun while it lasted but that show just came to an end. Oregon's a different team without him and it showed last night. Their runaway Pac-10 Championship and BCS game hopes are now teetering. Dixon's Heisman Trophy crashed the minute he crumpled to the turf last night and Arizona's victory obviously ended their BCS Championship Game hopes.
After leaving last night's loss in the first quarter when the knee faltered again, Dixon will now have season-ending surgery, bringing his UO career to a close. That was the word on a conference call featuring UO coach Mike Bellotti and team physician Dr. Bob Crist this evening.
What a cruel blow to both Dixon and the team. The senior was a middling draft prospect to begin with but this late-season injury will deeply interfere with his ability to train and test ahead of next April's draft. Fortunately for Dixon he has a minor league baseball opportunity to fall back upon, but even that won't last much longer unless he learns to hit the curve ball.
Dixon's final line:
172/254 passing (.677), 2136 yards, 20 touchdowns, 4 interceptions,161.2 rating
105 carries, 583 yards (5.6 average) 9 touchdowns

Dennis Dixon's college football career has ended but he sure has a lot to be thankful for. Maybe baseball is next when he learns how to hit a curve ball.

Dixon beat my USC team, so hats off. Why a complete tear would have not forced him off the roster prior to the Arizona game is a mystery only Belotti must own up to.

Coach Belotti is an absolute class act, and we have been fortunate to have him stay in Eugene for so many years. When Dennis went out, the coach just tapped him on the shoulder pads, smiled at him in a way that said.."it's OK, you've done great young man". He knows he has a career of some sort ahead of him, and it may be baseball. With the great attitude that Dennis Dixon has, he's not arrogant, that in itself will help him to succeed. In Oregon, we are greatful for the success' we have had. We fell a little short of National Title hopes, but the season isn't totally over yet. True Oregon fans are greatful how far we have come over the years, and win or lose, we stand by our team, coaches, university, and community. Good luck Dennis in your rehab, and to the Ducks on the rest of the season. I'm sure he'll be there cheering them on.

I don't usually watch college football but watching Dennis Dixon this year was an absolute JOY. He was well on his way to winning the Heisman. He's an exceptional athlete, like John Elway and Bo Jackson, a choice in two sports to play. That's rare indeed. I was so very sorry to hear of the news of his injury but I am sure he'll be able to come back from it. Look at Carson Palmer's injury and he came back. So I believe Dennis can too. It isn't the end, not by a long shot. Good luck to you Dennis, I'll be rooting for you all the way.
P.S. What is surprising is that how there was BARELY any news coverage of him all year when he was blowing up the field and competition and yet his injury is front page news. Hmmm! Makes one think!

As I was absolutely devastated when Dixon and his Rabid Ducks beat up my Wolverines, I am as devastated to see this happen to Dixon. What a fun guy to watch play. I truly think he was/is deserving of the Heisman. He truly is a remarkable player. I wish him god speed in his recovery. And if Michigan does face the Ducks again in a Bowl game, thank god Dixon will not be in the game to torment the Wolverines again!

Time for Duck Nation to Rise Up. There is too much at stake with two games left. The general feeling in the media and the state is "whoa is us."
We need some USC help, but the PAC 10 is still up for grabs, the Civil War is not too far off. Putting all the eggs in one basket has never been Bellotti's style. Leaf needs to not be a Leaf and be a Senior.
The O Line has been dominate. Fire Up, Get Mad and Demand the Rest of the 80+ scholarship players to do their jobs. Get creative, quit fumbling the ball and let Stewart run all over the Bruins.
Stop feeling sorry for the Ducks and play some football.
