And in so doing loses its journalistic integrity . . . I kid, I kid. Sports is not Left/Right//Center politics. So anyway, check out the image at right of one grinning Tim Russert and his Ryan for Heisman shirt. Not bad for a quarterback at a private Jesuit school in pro sports mad Boston. Beat Miami on a Hail Mary to Kevin Challenger and he may really be onto something.
As for Russert, well last I checked he still has a Berman-esque affection for his hometown Buffalo Bills. Yet it's nice to see his interests expanding into the college game.
The NFL is boring. Matt Ryan's stirring comeback performance in the last two minutes against Virginia Tech . . . is not.

Russert's interests are not just now expanding to the college ranks. He's been rather vocal about his BC supports for a few years now. he spoke at the school in 2004, and his son Luke is still an undergrad there, IIRC.

After Ohio State runs the table I hope BC does it as well. Ohio State - 38
BC - 10

Will Russert be as loyal to Ryan as he was to Imus?

I was really impressed with Matt's last game. But, being in the SEC I have seen the same type of performance every Saturday this season. John Parker at Alabama, WOW!! did you miss his 2 minute offense?? Auburn, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, man there have been some wonderfull games played. But, being the conference we are our players rarely get a Heisman. Because you are going to lose some games in the season even if you are L.S.U. Boston College would get mopped off the field by Alabama or Auburn. Florida would bury them. Tim Tebow has been the front runner and because he played with an injured shoulder and didn't put up 600 yards or rush for 100 yards. He played in the worst pain you can play in if you are a quarterback. I know, I did it and still today remember the pain. Alabama almost signed Tebow. I feel if Saban had been in charge rather than Shula, who looked like a deer caught in headlights on the sideline. If Tebow were at Alabama we would be undefeated and win the National Championship and the Heisman for Tim. Period.

Matt Ryan for Heisman? Are you kidding me? Can you say "most overrated" player on the "most overrated" team? Ryan (like BC) padded his stats on mediocre competition and still couldn't put up numbers worthy of a Heisman Trophy. His TD/Int ratio (21/11) is atrocious, his completion percentage (59.5%) is just ok,he rushed for just 36 yards, and was exposed as a Heisman fraud when he completed less than 50% of his passes and threw as many ints as TD's against both VT and and unrated FS. Compare his stats to 2 QB's who've faced tougher competition, Dixon of Oregon (20 TD, 3 INT, 67.9 CMP%, 549 rush yards) and Tebow of Florida (21 TD, 4 INT, 67.7 CMP%, 598 rush yards.)
