I called for it over the weekend, and yesterday Charlie Weis said he was considering it. Today, Weis made it official and announced that Evan Sharpley, not Jimmy Clausen, will be Notre Dame's starting quarterback this Saturday against USC.Sharpley, the backup to Brady Quinn last season and the No. 2 quarterback when Demetrius Jones and Jimmy Clausen started the first seven games this season, will make his first career start Saturday at home.Thank you, Touchdown Jesus. Thank you for using your incredible Touchdown Jesus powers for helping make Charlie see the light. I may have to go to church this weekend, that's how appreciative I am of your work.
"I think Evan this week gives us the best chance of winning," coach Charlie Weis said during his weekly news conference Tuesday.
Now it's important to note that I don't think this is going to make Notre Dame good all of a sudden. I don't think they're going to go out and beat USC on Saturday, and run off a win streak to finish the season and become bowl eligible.
I'm just happy this change was made because now at least I feel like the Irish can win. I haven't felt that way all season, and it's a nice change of pace.

Doesn't matter. They're going to be wearing green jerseys, that means they're going to lose.

Wow, this is amazing. Finally a smart decision by Weis this year. This might make notre dame better, but not that much better, they still be less that .500 this year!

Clausen has been overrated since elementray school. Even in Flag Football he used to cry when he was hit. Then in high school his father recruited players to surround Clausen with good players and even got the school to give scholarships to these players. They played incredibly weak schools. Every week it was like watching USC play a junior varsity high school team. Every week they ran up the numbers against these teams the the stupid ass sportscasters bought all this garbage. Further his parents held him back so of course he showed maturity. He was 2 to 3 years older than his teammates. The whole thing has been fabricated fromt the beginning and now everyone is seeing what a fraud Clausen is. The next time he plays, if he plays, the opposing linemen should key in on him and send him crying back to grade school

Sharpley has the skills and decision making ability. The offense struggles to run or pass. The problem should be obvious. They have without a doubt the worst offensive line in the history of college football. The tackles are beaten constantly by the outside speed rush. They have to have the best footwork on the, they have the worst. The defense tackles poorly because they wear down. When you can't pass or run block and are constant confused on stunts and blitzes the quarterback can neverachieve a comfort zone. Until this problem is solved (I.E. new line coach) it will continue to happen. Why do you think manning and brady are so good. They are comfortable knowing the fact that they are rarely hit. I think Weiss is a great coach, but seemed to be concerned too much about last years playmakers instead of concentrating on what he had to adjust to overcome it! (a good offensive line is the most important part of the success of the offense, and its deficiences seemed to have been ignord!) That is all, I'm out!
