Hapless Temple found itself in a real ball game today against Connecticut. With fourth and goal with less than a minute left trailing UCONN 22-17, Temple ran a reverse pass. The ball was lofted to the back of the end zone, tipped, and then caught by a Temple receiver. Update: Video below.
On-field officials ruled the receiver was out of bounds when he caught the ball. After watching several replays, it is abundantly clear to me that he 1)had possession of the ball and 2)got his left foot in-bounds while in possession of the ball.
That play's a touchdown. Period.
The replay crew disagreed and stuck with the on-field call. This is a travesty. This is a sham. This is a mockery. It's a traveshamockery and I'm embarrassed with the game's replay crew. Temple was robbed of a rare victory and I hope they raise a fit (in a professional manner, of course)with the Big East officials tomorrow.
They were robbed of a touchdown that would have all but won the game for them. They deserved that win but it goes down in the record books as a loss. How sad.

I saw that play and Temple did have the game taken away from them, however it's what happens to chronically losing programs - they will never, ever get an officiating call when they need it to be called correctly!

I don't know... it certainly looks from the replay that he had his foot in, but the angle is such that you can't tell whether or not he had a toe on the line, and without indisputable evidence that the whole foot was in bounds (a security guard was blocking the view on the angle which would have been indisputable), the replay officials cannot overturn the play.

I didn't see the Temple call but if it is anything close to the refs screw up in the Oklahoma-Oregon last year, something needs to be done about the review process. The refs should instant access to all angle shots the networks have.

What a friggin travesty!!! Temple might not win another game until 2010 now. This victory would have sold at least 10 more season tickets for their home games. Seriously--The refs blew it and should be held accountable somehow. Is Pete Donagy an official in college football while he is awaiting sentencing?

That guy at the end for Temple was clearly in bounds. These were Big East officials, and remember, Temple was kicked out of the Big East. Bias? Absolutely. There is no way, even with the limited replays, that that guy was not in bounds.

The call was a complete travesty. Plain and simple. People who usually make fun of my support for TU football were calling me up tonight and telling me how the Owls were robbed. BIG TIME. I wonder if the Big East official up in the booth had to consult with BE commish Tranghese to make sure he made the "right call".
Temple is certainly going to improve under the leadership of Al Golden-only 1 scholarship senior dressed to play against UConn. The fact that the Owls were robbed shouldn't be an invitation for the imagination and intellectually challenged to deliver cheap shots against TU. But here they are, probably only amusing themselves and their similarily lame brained drinking and drugging buddies.
It's not like we haven't heard their dribble a million times before.

An absolute disgrace that reeks of Big East subjectivity. Horrible call. Temple beat UConn. Sad for the kids.
