Fresh off a beating at the hands of the NCAA, Oklahoma fans must be howling at this "good" news about their rivals.Texas freshman defensive tackle Andre Jones was being sought Thursday on an aggravated robbery charge in connection with an incident that landed a former Longhorns player in jail last weekend, police said.
An arrest warrant was issued for Jones accusing him of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, a first-degree felony, Austin Police Department spokeswoman Laura Albrecht said. Bond was set at $40,000.
Texas has yet to make a comment other than to say they're aware of the situation. If true, chalk this up to getting mixed up with an alleged bad seed, soon-to-be former Longhorn named Robert Joseph.
Robert Joseph, a sophomore safety who was suspended last month and then announced plans to transfer, was arrested Saturday and charged with the same offense. The two are accused in arrest documents of a holdup last Friday at an Austin apartment complex where a 14-year-old and another victim were present.
Joseph is accused of displaying a weapon, and Jones indicated that he had a gun, Albrecht said. Cash, video game equipment and cell phones were stolen, she said.
Jones was identified through a witness, the University of Texas football roster and a photo lineup, Albrecht said.
Well isn't that special? This isn't your run-of-the-mill marijuana possession arrest, so Texas will probably be cutting ties with the promising recruit if this proves to be true. This is really too bad as quality defensive tackles are incredibly difficult to find. The 'Horns have had a great run of them lately, but it's not like they grow on trees.

Mack Brown is a great recruiter who could sell snow to Eskimos, but he's never been much of a disciplinarian. Yet he gets petulant when the media and fans suggest any such thing. He said that he has 130 kids and 128 of 'em are doing things right, but the media singles out the two who aren't.
What's he expect them to do? Maybe he wants them to report that Colt McCoy drove back to school without getting a speeding ticket, or that Limas Sweed caught a pass without pushing off on the defender.
Mack's two-percenters cause ninety-eight percent of his problems ... and one hundred percent of his bad ink in the media.
He needs to get rid of them. Whether he's up to it is questionable.
