A week ago, Jim Harbaugh caused a bit of a brouhaha when he told a reporter that Pete Carroll would be
gonzo after this year:
"He's only got one more year, though. He'll be there one more year. That's what I've heard. I heard it (from) inside the staff."
Fans of teams other than USC all said a little prayer that it was true, then Carroll responded as snippily as you might expect:
"If he's going to make statements like that, he ought to get his information right," Carroll told the Los Angeles Times. "And if he has any questions about it, he should call me."
Rowr! Not a bad way to start off in the Pac-10, Jim. If you're losing 77-3 at the end of your first game against USC (and you will be) and Carroll's still running flea-flickers, that's probably why. But does this scare Harbaugh? Nein!
"It's been widely publicized that he has interviewed for other jobs, and that is what I've heard," Harbaugh said Monday. "I definitely said that. But we bow to no man. We bow to no program here at Stanford University."
(Especially the Tree, because if the Tree bows he'll probably
hurl and then fall over.) It's refreshing to have a coach that doesn't have any truck with leaden coachspeak and everyone hopes dearly that Harbaugh's team can back up his brash talk but we'll believe it when we see it. Even if he is the most awesome Michigan quarterback ever.

Another michigan QB wanna be bad-mouthing Trojans...."insert foot in mouth syndrome"
Brian, you hit it on the head, jim better be able to back it up with his players. Coaches don't play, the boys do....will they win?? Don't think its going to happen too soon because Stanford entry requirements are the toughest in the PAC-10 (know this after my kids applied into every PAC-10 school the last 2 years) and if you look at the last 5 years, their football program has been hard-pressed to recruit 5-star players because the standards are so high (SAT, ACT, GPA, MFA, ESSAY, etc.)
SO...Harbaugh (for your sake along with fans & alumni)....shut-up, keep your comments to yourself since the last time you were in the PAC-10 was Rose Bowl time and EARN your respect with the PAC-10 by coaching Stanford to wins....its not USD or San Diego....FIGHT ON!

uh, usc blogger??? Jim Harbaugh is the coach of Stanford and not Michigan. He is no longer a QB nor has anything to do with Michigan. Your little dig at Michigan is outta bounds. What isn't outta bounds is his comments which are obvious to anyone who has been watching Carroll, who is an awesome coach btw. Did Carroll not talk to any nfl teams? He absolutely did.
Do you think he has an itch to get back to the NFL? As surely as USC creamed Michigan in the Rose Bowl, YES!
Does that make Carroll a bad guy? Not at all. I just think Carroll didn't quite think he'd build the power house that he did at USC and is now obligated to continue to see it grow and prosper. He'd be perceived as a "moran" to leave. But we all know he wants to go back to the pros to duplicate what he did at USC.
And if anything, Harbaugh's words helps further cretae a rivalry between the two schools. THAT'S ALWAYS GOOD FOR FOOTBALL.
And why the hell are you so pissed off by what HArbaugh said? It's not like he called Carroll a pansy like I am calling you based on your idiot post! BUAHAHAHAHAHAH
GO BLUE!

GREAT, I got someone's attention, but it was for Stanford fans and not Michigan fans. My apologies MB.
Michigan blogger, I'm not pissed off (but you sound like it), and I agree a little badgering doesn't hurt. I'm just saying Harbaugh needs to CONCENTRATE and FOCUS on the Stanford program, & no one elses. You didn't see PC making dumb statements his first year in the league. Let's face it, PC will eventually leave as all coaches in ANY sport do, but for now he stays for another year (or 3).
PC back to the NFL.....welllll, why would PC return to prove anything since NFL management & ownership haven't really changed anything (with regards to who really coaches the team)...even with the enticing discussion WH had with PC in Costa Rica, the NFL ownership is STILL the same......FIGHT ON!
p.s. Harbaugh was good at USD, the question is can he reproduce the same results at Stanford in a much tougher league (& schedule)?

Dude, are you that naive to think that Harbaugh is incapable of discussing or commenting on anything other than Stanford football for fear he'll lose sight of his head coaching role? Come on, I know USC fans are a few cards short of a full deck but not that stupid to think that humans are incapable of multitasking.
Harbaugh is a smart guy. He's done what he planned to do and instill fear into USC fans as he did with you. You know deep down that Carroll wants back to the NFL. And yes, there are teams out there so hungry to win that they will let Carroll coach with FULL control (just as long as USC continues to dominate). Carroll has a very good chance of winning it all again this year. If he does, you better watch just how quickly certain teams will be begging him --with trucks of money and promises of total control--to step up to the NFL again.
Until then, just hope that the NCAA doesn't sanction USC for the dirty deeds of Reggie Bush.

I guess us dumb SC fans will have to be content with having kicked sorry ol' Michigan's rear ends up and down the field time and time again.
