It's an exciting time to be a Boise State fan, as the program has never been richer or more high-profile than they are now in the wake of the most thrilling BCS bowl victory of all time. In a year where their head coach left for greener pastures at a big-name BCS conference school, it's nothing short of amazing how high the program is riding right now. With a staggering amount of BCS cash laying around, Boise State has gotten right down to business and reinvested in the football team, breaking ground on a $35.9 million expansion to Bronco Stadium (although "breaking ground" may be a bit of a misnomer for Idaho in February. "Hacking at permafrost with a ceremonial shovel" might be more appropriate). The extension will add 2,000 seats, a club level, luxury suites, and a revamped press box to the homely Bronco Stadium, which, the article indicates, has an elevator from 1970 that terrifies its riders with the prospect of instant death on every elevation.
There are currently more phases of expansion planned out for the stadium over the next 10 years that could eventually double the capacity of Bronco Stadium, depending on the demand and, of course, how much of that sweet BCS moolah Chris Petersen can rake in over the next decade. My suggestion: orange turf. Think about it.
