Did Reggie Bush talk to Joe McKnight prior to him committing to Southern Cal? That's the big question at the center of an investigation (by USC) into the recruiting process that brought the blue chip recruit to the Trojans. The matter stems from comments made by McKnight on signing day, when he was asked about any fears of USC facing disciplinary action because of the Reggie Bush/Lamar Griffin/Michael Michaels/Lloyd Lake affair. McKnight told reporters his mind was put at ease about USC after he listened to a telephone conversation between Coach Pete Carroll and Reggie Bush, the Trojans' Heisman Trophy-winning running back.
The problem is, former players are regarded by the NCAA as "representatives of athletics interests" and are forbidden from telephoning prospective recruits.
Coach Carroll said he discussed the idea of a conference call with assistants before a visit to McKnight's home, only to be told it was against NCAA rules. He also said that McKnight never spoke to Bush.
As for McKnight, his high school coach, John Curtis, told reporters that McKnight told him: "Coach Carroll was talking to Reggie on the speakerphone and Joe was able to listen and hear Reggie Bush's side of the story."
Between the ongoing Bush saga, the Trade Tech College matter, and now this, Trojan fans are still looking for a fortnight's stretch in 2007 where accusations of NCAA rules infractions at USC aren't making the headlines.
More on this as it develops.

This doesn't really surprise me, and I would be willing to bet that this is just the top of the iceberg. Hopefully the NCAA does something about it this time. We will have to wait and see, but I don't expect much from USC or the PAC 10.
Did you hear the one about LSU and McKnight and former tailback Kevin Faulk?
I really hope this isn't what it's going to be like for the next couple months until the season.
i wouldnt at all be surprised. half of these coaches are probably corrupt. or may be a 2 and 10 team (illinois) really just has that good of a campus.
