Things are already kind of bad in Buckeye Nation, but news today just adds to the misery. As you can see from the picture here, Ted Ginn Jr. was injured by his own fellow Ohio State wide receiver Roy Hall celebratorily tackling him in the endzone after his 93-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.Ginn reportedly was ready to go back in after this, but I'm guessing the coaching staff was thinking about his future when they made him sit out the rest of the game.
Nobody is really at fault here, since players always tackle each other after touchdowns and celebrate, but this kind of injury is definitely harder to swallow than one incurred while actually, you know, playing football.
The diagnosis is a sprained left foot. Not that it really matters to Buckeye fans if Ginn will be healthy to start the 2007 season since he will almost certainly be leaving for the NFL this spring. Although, actually, if the injury is bad enough I suppose Ginn could possibly decide to stick with the Buckeyes to prove that he's healthy, but I imagine that's unlikely.

Like it matters. They got smoked! So did Michigan by USC, for that matter. The Big 10 is overrated. It seems to be a lot of hype like Notre Dame but no substance.
ohio st finished 12-1 and thats overrated you got to be kidding me beating 2 # 2 teams ,ya they got creamed by flordia, flordia could've beat anybody monday til monday nights flop osu from start of the season til the last game of the season ( michigan game) they remained unbeaten..not only beat 2 # 2 but beat a few bowl teams as well iowa and penn st which btw beat tennessee,,
Hope he's better soon. What a great player. That run-back by Ginn in the beginning of the game was terrifying.
Only got to see him in one play against my Gators. Seeing how Nelson, Lewis, and Smith handled him throughout the night would have been very fun to watch.
Was Hall a covert Gator in disguise? Was this incident written in the stars? Was the OSU meltdown and ultimate bitch slapping at the hands of the GATORS inevitable? You decide.
But really, did ohio really deserve a #2 ranking?
Inquiring minds.
They should be like the TROJANS and do the "Airborne Chest Bump",Thats the only way they could be like USC.
THE OHIO STATE BUCKEYES...OVERRATED!
You're right. Both these teams already played the National Championship on Nov. 18.
one more thought 19 straight wins isn't being overrated problem is osu ran into a buzz saw
Wether Ginn played the entire game or not his stats wouldve been the same on offense, Jarvis Moss and Derrick Harvey applied so much pressure on Smith he would have never had time to throw the ball deep to utilize Ginn's speed. It would have been pure domination even with Ginn. Best of luck to him in the NFL.
Troy smith needs to pack his bags and head to Canada. No US pro team will draft him. He'll have to prove himself in about 5 years with some canadian team willing to take a chance on him..Too bad. When the money was on the table, he choked..REALLY CHOKED.
The fact is you always want to beat a team at their best and OSU is not their best without Ginn. I'm a Gator and I'm biased, but no one was beating Florida Monday night. Their D was immovable all year and when the offense showed up, well, you saw what happened! When you play the toughest schedule in America, you're ready for anything, esp. anything the Big 10 can throw at you.
THAT GOES TO SHOW YOU WHO SUPPOSED TO HAVE WON THE HEISMAN .COLT BRENNAN ENOUGH SAID.
The missed holding call on a totally obvious penalty, to everyone in the stands and watching on TV, a penalty that set Ginn free for the run back, was what was terrifying. His presence would have made no difference. The Big 10 is totally over rated. Ohio State played what? three teams of any consequence, maybe? The SEC teams fight for their lives week in and week out, no matter if they are playing Florida, Auburn, LSU, or Mississippi State or Vanderbilt.
the coach is resposible for allowing the celabration garbage to go on.The last time i checked, texas and ucla don't play florida or the SEC.Your biased bull is bull.Ginn proved the difference in the first seconds of the game.I don't see any qbacks from florida worth a nickel except Testaverde
No quarterback, college or pro, could have done anything against Florida's defensive line. The Buckeye's offensive line got manhandled. Give Troy Smith some time and he is a great quarterback.
In case no one noticed it, #8,(I don't know his name)the guy that hurt Ginn's foot, is the same guy that blantantly held Reggie Nelson on the kick off return. Karma.
I see college coaches subduing celebrations in the near future to avoid injury like this.
I never really understood it anyway why mugging, and beating the crap out of your own team-mate after he does something good.
Next to baseball players in college getting injured by the dogpile celebration after the College World Series, this is the first time that I am aware of that a football player get injured by a teammate with the tackling move. When you lose the national championship games minor bad things get magnified.
What's with ALL Y'ALL SEC fans. Your as ethnocentric regarding your conference as you, oops, Y'ALL accuse Big Ten fans of being. You have some good teams and some really mediocre ones, as does the Big 10 (11), the Big 8, The Pac 10, etc.
We got smoked that is a fair call. But half of you peoples team have never won a national title. We have what about 8. Florida only has 2 now. If they are so bad why only 2? Not taking anything away from them they were on top of there game for sure. But if your team has not won a national title or if you only have one or two, dont be talkin smack about us. Florida sucked all year only winning the majority of there games by 1 or 2 points. That is probably more luck than skill. And Leak looked like shit all year, I sure am glad he finally did something right! Again not taking anything away from them but dont try doggin Ohio State for a bad game anyone can have a bad game.
I'm from Texas originally, I am stationed in California in the military, and all I heard last year was USC this, USC that, USC dynasty this, and that, every time you turned the TV on, it was something about USC.
Well just like Florida, they got tired of hearing that crap all the time also.
