In 2003 the Buckeyes beat Miami to win the national title, and the Columbus Dispatch issue the next day that commemorated the win sold out pretty quickly. I can remember having a hard time finding a copy myself, although I did manage to track one down. This year Buckeye fans can pre-order copies of the January 9th edition of the Columbus Dispatch to avoid the possible sell out. You can only buy them in groups of ten, and it seems obvious that you'd only put in an order if you were feeling pretty confident in the Buckeyes chances. I can't imagine anyone would want to save a paper recounting a Buckeyes loss in a national title game.
I'm guessing the Dispatch will do pretty brisk business with this pre-order offer, what with the opponent being Florida and all. The vaunted SEC didn't look all that impressive yesterday against Penn State and Wisconsin, and I still can't imagine the Buckeyes having much trouble against the Gators.
I went ahead and put in my order.

I guess you just can't wait to see the buckeyes turn into the blackeyes. Hey maybe this Gator will buy up some of those papers you'll be wanting to use for your dog's poopy party. Keep up your over confidence. We all saw how tough Michigan wasn't.
Go Gators!!

Going into the BCS game on Monday night, the Buckeyes have taken care of business all year long. They were vote # 1 even with the lost of 9 starters and more from the back levels, but did not miss a beat. The Bucks can adjust well, play many on the lines and make big/small plays. Florida will be using the tricks of the trade and hope for the best. Not sure the "fools game" will bring them a title. Go Bucks, take care of the "Gators". Been there/done that and what more can be said......Jim T is a great leader and a class act, giving his players the best of the best, to leave their college days and be great if life's game. Chuck, you can't be serious. Florida played a tougher schedule? Give me a break. So far the SEC has not fared well against the Big 10 in the 2 meetings this bowl season. Those were 2 teams that Florida played that are part of your tougher schedule? I won't resort to the name calling, but we'll see come Monday if you truely match up with Ohio State...

If the Buckeyes were playing the Broncos (Boise State), it'd be a bad idea to pre-order a copy unless you want to use it to line a birdcage. Unfortunately, with the ludicrous BCS "popularity" contest, we won't even get the opportunity to prove to all the "naysayers" we're #1 in college football.

I've been an OSU fan for 16 seasons now, had season tickets throughout the 1990s, and still live in Columbus.
That said, I'm sick and tired of rabid fans and local radio personalities that equate "#1 ranking" with "best team". I'll root hard for OSU, and would give them the edge in predicting an outcome...but believe me, this game is far from a lock. It would not shock me by any stretch to see Florida win...and I don't think it would be a huge upset.
They play the games for a reason..."on any Sunday", as they say.

OSU will be playing UF (University of Florida) FSU (Florida State University) already beat the crap out of UCLA. The question remains... Just how good is Ohio State and how good is Florida.
Remember the best team on MONDAY will win, not the best team on paper. The underdog seems to have the advantage in these long layoffs before a bowl game. They tend to stay hungry.
I thought Notre Dame was a quality team until the met a bunch of hungry LSU Tigers.

Hey Buckeye fans...you should learn not to be so cocky based on recent history, especially when it hits so close to home. I remember a team a couple of years back that played a tough schedule and barely squeaked by many of those games with a tough defense and an offense that did just enough to win no matter what the level of competition was...that team actually got a chance to play for a national championship against a pure powerhouse, you know unstoppable offense and a ferocious defense....wasn't even supposed to be a game....in fact they were 14 1/2 point underdogs and not an expert in the land gave them a chance....well a miracle happened (including a penalty flag that magically appeared 5 seconds after a certain play was over) and that huge underdog somehow pulled out that game in the same manner they had done all year and shocked the world by becoming the BCS national champions...have you figured it out yet? Remember, history tends to repeat itself! GATORS 31 OSU 24

This is the year of the Buckeye the fans have felt it all season long. I believe in them and they are not cockey like the Miami team they take every game very seriously and know that Florida is a good team. Don't compare us to Miami ever again and Tressel is worlds superior to Coker as a coach.

I don't think Ohio State has any idea what is about to happen to them on Monday night and frankly I feel a bit sorry for them. Ohio State is about to get a taste of one of the fastest defenses in the country - a long with an offense that can score AT WILL and in seconds. And I'm not even a Florida fan.....
Ohio State won all their games but their schedule verges on the ridiculous. They played N. Illinois, Bowling Green, Cincinatti, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Minnessota and Northwestern. Are you kidding? They are suppossed to be the #1 team in the country? HARDLY. I think they are hanging their hats on the fact that they beat Michigan. I hope they have more than than in their bag. After all, we all saw what USC did to Michigan just a few short days ago.
USC Completely dismantled them on national television. Embarressed them. Kicked their tails way worse than Ohio State was able to...and USC had 2 losses!
Unfortunately for Ohio State - Florida is better than USC. They can score at will and they will harass poor Troy Smith into the ground. Can you say LSU and Arkansas? Yeah - that's who Florida has been playing - along with Alabama, Georgia and Florida State.
Ohio State does have one thing in their favor - their coach. He's a master - let's hope he can come up with a miracle for them.
I think it's going to be Florida's night - BY A LOT!!!!

Ok Florida fans and Buckeye haters, this how Tressel ball goes if a quality opponet stops the run ,then the Buck wiil pass, if the pass is stoped then special teams take over,if special teams are stopped ,then the defence can and will score. Most likely it will be a close game with the Scarlet and Gray domanet in most area.

Shawn (#15), your comments (to use your phrase) border on the ridiculous. Ohio State has one of the fastest (if not the fastest)offenses in the nation. There defense is also very fast. They can score at AT WILL and in seconds. Florida has not faced an offense like this one.
As far as schedules are concerned, Florida's is just as ridiculous. Western Carolina, Vanderbilt, Central Florida, Kentucky (until this year is annually a mediocre team), a mediocre Alabama (who has been the pasr several years) and a sub-par Florida State team.
For the record, Northern Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa & Cincinnati are bowl teams.
What does the fact that USC having 2 losses beating Michigan have to do with anything? USC is probably the 2nd best team in the nation. They are certainly better than ANY SEC team. Had they played LSU or Florida in the Rose Bowl, the results would have been the same as the Michigan game. Is Florida banking on the fact that they beat Arkansas for the SEC Championship? An Arkansas that got beaten by Wisconsin, the 3rd best team in the Big 10?
As for the OSU/Michigan game. That is a rivalry. Anyone with any sense at all, knows that no matter what a teams record is like, when it comes to a rivalry game, they are generally close. Take a look at the USC/UCLA game and the Florida/FSU game.
Can you say Michigan and Texas? Yeah, that's who Ohio State has been playing with...Along with Penn State and Iowa. Oh, and to keep you memory fresh, Penn State and Wisconsin (both Big 10 teams) beat Tennessee and Arkansa (both SEC teams). I guess you could say the Big-10 is 2-0 and the SEC is 0-2 in head to head bowl games.
One other thing. Ohio State isn't being cocky. They're just confident!

It appears that those who are flapping their lips against the #1 Buckeye Team, have never played the game nor ever understood dominance. Florida will be fortunate to score anything other than a field goal. Score....Buckeyes 28-florida "B"team 9. You eight graders of the game responding here have not looked at the stats. Michigan played above their ability because records are out in the number one game in the country (OS & Mich). Look at stats fools, of Ohio against all of you. Look at their stats against Michigan. The score was closer than the game 8th graders.
Lets clear the air.........Boise State, you make the laugh of nation with your statement. You played over your heads against Oklahoma. Ohio is the hot bed of coaches and players. If a team is too be successful, you must have Ohio born and raised players and/or coaches. Michigan and other college teams have been successful over the years because they had many Ohio players and coaches on their teams.
The Ohio State title game in 2002, and the five second delay was caused by another ref running into the picture to throw the flag. You green arm chair quartersbacks need to look at those calls several times on your copied VCR tapes like I did. You are not as good from your baby cribs as the refs were that night against Miami.
Now, why are we considering USC. So they beat Mich on their turf. Look at what a simple and lowly UCLA did to USC. Mich is as much a better team over USC as the difference between USC and UCLA.
The Buckeyes are aware of becoming big headed and Florida will be sent back to play their second class schedule after Ohio State shows them how to play and use the fundamentals of the game correctly.
Look at the stats..........look at the size of the Buckeye lines...........note that they are so deep, that they rotate lines to keep fresh....that they had 3 potential Heisman candidates. Just pure breed players........10 offense starters from Ohio, a defense with 8 rookies that stopped all of some great teams all year. Stats are what counts overall...look at how Florida places in the stats. The stats say Florida should not be in this game....apparenly Boise State would be tougher than a amateur team of Gator eaters.
