From the grave, legendary guitarist and musician Jimi Hendrix gives us this grainy video of a performance from years past. Isn't that nice!
The relevant part? He gives a shoutout for USC's football team, congratulating them on "beating the hell out of Michigan".
Then he gets down to business. Enjoy.

To all of the musical "aficionados" ----- take a good look (and a good listen), because Jimi Hendrix is one of the greatest; if not the greatest, of all time. Oh yeah, he is an original too. Please note: Mr. Hendrix does not provide any long hair head snaps, no stage props, no tight fitting clothes, no satanic lyrics, and no speed metal. Believe it or not, he made a name for himself by actually mastering how to play the guitar. In today's world where talk is "gold" has become the SOP for our "celebrities;" style has replaced substance; and we're force fed corporate creations that truly have little to no talent. Yes, I am here to point this out to you and I do so with pride -- enjoy !

Yeah, he said it right...mastered the guitar. I don't know where you were going with your comment, but please don't try to say that Hendrix was not a guitar wizard. He is pretty much the acknowledged ace, like it or not....had he only lived longer all the others would be licking his frets.........

To be honest, I could care about the football game but when it comes right down to it, Jimi Hendrix is one of the greatest guitar players of all time(the greatest in my humble opinion).

Jimi never heard of them because, as the series goes, the Buckeyes can't match the Wolverine shadow. Ohio State rules? Yeah, the outhouse.

I agree with JSark's point that Jimi mastered the guitar - he took playing electric guitar to new levels, transcending blues, jazz, psychedelic, but including them, too. He had his roots as a backup musician for various artists such as BB King, Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson, Little Richard, the Isley Bros and Curtis Knight. He must have had something on the ball to get to play guitar with all those folks. He 'mastered' the fundamentals and then moved on.
Yes, wes mongomery, george benson, larry carlton, ottmar leibert all play the guitar very well, but none has had the influence on popular music that Hendrix did. After Pete Townshend, Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton went to see Jimi play in the UK, they all left the performance discouraged. Jimi played at a level unreachable by others. There's never been a better rock guitar player, never been someone else who so thoroughly mastered the electric guitar in the rock genre. Ever.

For the 2nd post, that is rediculous trying to compare Jimi Hendrix to George Benson? Geeezzz Thats like compareing a oil well to a water balloon. Cant be done, two totally seperate ordeals. And I bet Hendrix did listen to Buddy Guy, as most all blues good players did and the ones that didnt arent that good of players.

Jimi had a sound when he played his guitar that no one else has ever been able to duplicate. There is just something about the way he was (and still is) able to make you feel the music as he played it. There is not a guitar player today who can hold a candle to him, and they all know it. The master, he is.......

When I first heard Hendrix on WBZ radio in 1967 I didn't know what to think. But when my guitar playing friends couldn't believe their ears, I realized he was a rising star. Anyone who appreciates guitar or enjoys rock knows Hendrix turned the "3rd stone from the Sun" upside down.

Jimi played guitar with Joey Dee & the Starlighters before he became famous. So did actor Joe Pesci. Google it. I'd have loved to have heard both of them try their hand at "The Peppermint Twist".
