With 7:54 to go in the second half of Florida's 86-60 rout of Ohio State, Urban Meyer was shown chatting with former Ohio State receiver Cris Carter.
Greg Gumbel: "That's Urban Meyer, the head football coach here at Florida. You don't think he'd like this game to be some sort of an indicator as to when these two teams meet for the BCS championship game, do you?"
Billy Packer: "Well, Thad Matta gave him a little message yesterday. He went over to his seat is and he wrote down on the seat, 'We're going to kick your butt in the BCS championship.' So I'm sure that was a very interesting little message he received when he sat down today."
"Interesting," indeed.
Note to Mr. Matta (and the rest): Thank you for demonstrating what Ohio State athletics is apparently about... all talk, no action.

Can we please have someone else in the fanhouse discuss Florida sports besides this gushing fanboy?
I understand these blogs are written by fans, but this is ridiculous. I enjoy most people's insights into their teams. This last little tidbit which appears to be a joke between two coaches, the writer takes way to seriously.
Please tell me some other people will be writing about the national championship game. His coverage of this basketball game was an embarrassment.

Frank, I think you're a little confused about the concept of the Fanhouse.
There is no attempt at balance here. Or rather more accurately, if a writer chooses to seek balance, he may choose to do so. Or not.
It's the Fanhouse, man. If you want a tilt in the opposite direction, read JD Arney in the Ohio State football fanhouse. Heck, he wrote an article title "Ohio State Wins Championship" after Florida was voted into the BCS National Championship. He was quite positive that Florida would be no match for the mighty Buckeyes, and that by merely showing up on January 8th, the Bucks are guaranteed a win. (Hey, I'm not making this stuff, go read it now... links to your left.)
Florida fans are just as aggravated with him as you are with me.
And lest you be overly concerned about my "exclusive" (ha!) coverage of the NCAA national championship, don't worry, JD Arney and probably others will be writing on all kinds of other angles. Just browse around and you'll find someone more to your liking.
This is a perk of the Fanhouse. AOL is an equal opportunity employer of annoyers, so if you'd like to NOT be annoyed, I am sure you can find another one of us bloggers annoying your rival fans instead of you personally. In any case, if you don't like what you see here, I invite you to stop reading. Please. It'd make my day.
See you January 8th!

All talk? As a sports writer, I'd encourage you not to confuse your sports. Ohio State football is all about the action. Of which, Florida won't be able to handle on Jan. 8th.
Wildman is right... it's going to be a train wreck for Florida. OSU by at least 28 in the BCS. Florida's football team isn't even the 4th best team in the country. Go bucks!

Ryan, your forgetting one thing about the UF-OSU game. Florida's team is full of southerners, who are naturally much less intelligent than northerners... not to mention that UF is basically a community college. Look how easy it is to get into. You are a great representative of the lack of analytical acumen people in the south have.

The fans can talk smack all they want but rest assured Coach Tressel will have his players ready to face a damn good Gator team. They will not take Florida lightly and as long as Tressel keeps his players focused, yes, I do think Ohio State will win. I as a fan am not taking the Gators lightly and I know the OSU players aren't either.

I love this quote, "Too much momentum for Florida athletics right now."
As if the women's tennis team winning a match might also have an impact on a football game. And the momentum of that last swim meet might help your kicker actually make a 35 yarder this year...
Do you Gators fans really believe such garbage?
BTW, the Gators have an EXCEPTIONAL basketball team. Nice job on Saturday.

It is funny that any basketball conversation would include football, or vica versa. UF basketball is the reigning national champions, with 5 returning starters, playing at home before their largest crowd ever. It would have been a shock for OSU to win; the final score was somewhat shocking, but the Gators road momentum and shot lights out. That in no way will affect a football game played on the other side of the country after the new year. And just as UF was supposed to win the basketball game and did, the Buckeyes are supposed to win the football game...and will...30-21

One of my brothers went to OSU on an athletic scholarship and I can tell you that he is dangerously over-confident.
OSU, to the best of my knowledge, is 0-7 against the SEC. I think that OSU will lose because Fla has more speed than they have ever seen; and their over-confidence will kill them.

One of my brothers went to OSU on an athletic scholarship; and I can tell you that if his over-confidence is any example, then OSU is in trouble.
I think FLA will win because of their team speed; it is something that OSU has not seen all season. The team that makes the fewest mistakes will win. I just hope that the best team does indeed, win the game, and the National Championship.
By the way, I am a FLA grad, and am intelligent enough not to make stupid comments like some of the people above.

You people just don't get it. First one person says a basketball win will provide motivation for the football team, then you continue to bring up the Bucks record again the SEC. Did THIS Ohio State team play those games? No. Did you know we are 0-3 against Florida State? Does that mean they would beat us this year as well? (Of course, you people will try to get us to believe FSU is a worthy opponent because you eeked out a 7 point last 4th quarter win against them.) Did you know Michigan owns a convincing advantage in our series? All of this means nothing to you because you continue to pin your hopes on numbers and historical records that lead to one conclusion... Your "logic" is severely lacking. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Whatever makes you guys sleep at night is fine with me. It continues to provide me laughs through the holiday season.
Comical.

I want ohio state to loose to gators at the bcs bowle.
If they win against ohio state they will be the first sec football team to ever beat ohio state at their own games. which michigan and texas could not do in the regular season.
