Gay Sheep Thief Beats Oregon With His Head

Text Size A A A
Oregon State blocked two kicks yesterday to preserve a two point win over the Ducks. The second came as time was running out in regulation. Oregon's Matt Evensen had come in to attempt the winner after Paul Martinez was ineffective but also, because Martinez's maximum range is 46 yards. We know this because he hit one that bounced over the bar against Oklahoma earlier this year, in good weather.

Enter Evensen, and Oregon State's Ben Siegert. Evensen's kick was so low, it struck onrushing Oregon State defensive lineman (Siegert) on the helmet. Either Evensen didn't get any lift or OSU jut manhandled Oregon's offensive line on the play that saved the game for Oregon State.

Of course, until yesterday most fans only knew Siegert as the guy was arrested for DUI after stealing a live ram that was part of an OSU research project on gay sheep. To be fair, it was a very good play by Siegert. Maybe it'll make some amends for all the shots he's obviously forced his teammates to take since he went on a 'Gay Sheep Run.' Siegert blew a 0.14 and was arrested with the gay ram in his possession a couple years ago. OSU Coach Mike Riley suspended him for the opener in 2005.

Finally, in the 'Not that it matters' category, I guess the headline wouldn't have worked the same way if they'd written it correctly in Orlando? Once again national sportswriters, we'll do this slowly so you all get it right. Oregon's nickname is the Ducks, Oregon State's is the Beavers. Thanks for playing.
