NC State fans were talking trash about the Tar Heels even before the season began. And after Saturday's 23-9 whipping of the Wolfpack at the hands of UNC, it's time to look back at some of their pre-season remarks and make them eat their words. Here's a rundown of some of the message board mumbo-jumbo overheard earlier in the year regarding their thoughts on the team that would smack them around Saturday:
"I don't see how we'd lose to them this year, barring suspect officiating. They're pretty much terrible."
"[Joe] Dailey threw four billion interceptions at Nebraska (actually he threw 19, but the other number is funnier), and left Lincoln because they made him their FIFTH string QB."
"[Ronnie] Mcgill can't stay healthy to save his life...also, if you take a look at his stats, this guy owes his career to Duke football...and if you remember correctly, we were Barrington Edwards' first choice back in 2004 when he opted to transfer from LSU, but we went in another direction."
"While unc fans claim Jesse Holley is the next coming of Jerry Rice, Holley actually caught ONE TD pass last year...furthermore, this came against Utah, meaning he didn't manage to reach the end zone in ACC play. So to sum it up, Jesse Holley tied with about 98% of this board in terms of ACC touchdown receptions. I can't name another wideout on their roster/they don't have any others worth mentioning. Is Pollock still playing?"
"Their projected opening day OL features one Garrett 'Speedbump' Reynolds, he was abused last year before being shown the bench. The rest of their line is a mixture of youth and third year players who have never cracked the lineup before. Excluding Brian 'Breathalyzer' Chacos, this unit lacks experience. Including Chacos, this unit lacks overall talent."
"They have the worst defensive line in the ACC. I've said this before and I'll say it again: They have a player in their rotation who would not start for Independence HS. I'm not kidding either."
"I don't know/care too much about their linebackers, as Larry Edwards, their only decent player at that position."
"Their safeties lack size, which should pose coverage problems. Also, their best cover corner exhausted his eligibility, so they won't be as sharp on the corners next year."
"[Connor] Barth can't kick under pressure. In fact, he can't kick period."
"I really don't see how we'd lose to this sorry excuse for a football program."
My one-word response to this delusional nonsense is simply "scoreboard"!

Well it happened! NOt just this year but 3 yeras in a row! As bad a head coach as John Bunting is, he has owned Amato. If the tar heels are as bad as all these folks said, if the are so devoid of talent, what does that say about NCSU? BTW UNC has landed one of teh top college coaches in the country! And who si it that wants to come to NCSU? All I'm hearing is a bunch of assistants that want a stepping stone to real football schools. I've been around college athletics a long time, and NCSU doesn't consistently compare to UNC any time.

Yep. It happened...Again. The only good player NCSU (UNC-Raleigh) has sent to the pros in the past 5 years was Phillip Rivers. And I'm excluding Mario for a reason since he's had like 2 tackles with the Texans. Everyone knew Reggie should have landed the number one spot, and now it is even more relevant. With Davis at Carolina & O'brien at State, maybe, just maybe it might be a game worth watching next year.
