Some say Saturday's win over Alabama wasn't pretty. They obviously aren't Auburn fans. In what's becoming as traditional as Thanksgiving, Auburn carved up an out-manned and despondent Alabama team 22-15.
Auburn's win Saturday night shows just how much the power has shifted in the state of Alabama. The Crimson Tide program is in shambles. Despite taking the field with a banged up quarterback and running back and going without it's top receiver, Auburn's offense answered the bell when it needed to and controlled the clock on its way to a fifth consecutive win over a once proud program.
Will Muschamp's defense also showed up in a big way and nobody stood taller than Quentin Groves. His two sacks, make that muggings was the difference in the game. For the second year in a row, Alabama's offensive line failed miserably.
The game was essentially won when Alabama coach Mike Shula, showing little faith in his offense, decided to kick a field goal with the ball inside the Auburn 2-yard line in the first quarter. From that point on, Alabama's defense was never the same.
What a contrast in coaching styles. To send a message to your team that early in the game that you don't believe in them was devastating.
Shula's lack of respect was evident when cornerback Simeon Castille got in his face when he disagreed with the call. Alabama's Keith Brown slung his helmet into the bench in protest over the decision.
Can you ever imagine this happening with one of Tommy Tuberville's team? This is Alabama football.
With the win, Auburn becomes only the 11th Tiger team to win 10 games in a season. For the second year in a row, another group of seniors can say they never lost to Alabama. Five in a row. It wasn't long ago that many in the media were questioning whether Tuberville had what it took to beat Alabama after his struggles with them at Ole Miss. Now, that's just a distance memory.
What a difference five years makes. Gimmie Five!

you barners are all the same. this is typical barner talk. don't look at the stats or anything and scratch your head at how a supposedly natl championship caliber team was dominated (yes i said dominated, look at the stats) on both sides of the ball by a still struggling, pitiful Bama team. notch up a couple more over Bama... Hell make it 2 hands but the fact is that barner football still doesn't matter and will always be number 2 in the state of alabama... please oh please show up this year against the 5th best team in the big ten... Roll Tide Roll!!! and boy when the pendulum swings and Bama can finally get who they need at the top spot things are going to get nasty for you guys... so have your fun... print your shirts... beat Bama but lay 3 eggs a year because we will be back!!!

Hmmm, intothepink. Isn't that the color you get when red and white fade together in the wash? What in the world is a 'barner'? Sounds like redneck-greasy-old- Bama-cap-couldn't-find-Tuscaloosa-on-the-map-if-your embarrassed-mama's-life-depended-on-it gibberish. What a whiney little spurt of emotion you've poured out on your keyboard. You Bama fans need to get your heads out of the Bear Bryant shrine and realize it's almost 2007 and the words football and Tuscaloosa have become mutually exclusive. I love watching your coach on the sidelines with that 'deer in the headlights' look on his face. Did you hear the commentators near the end of the fifth win in a row Saturday. They made the comment that the Bama administrators in the booth next to them had made a hasty retreat with five minutes left in the game. Just like Bama fans - heading for the exits when their team is down. I don't know who I feel sorrier for - your players or your next coach who doesn't kiss Bear Bryant's dead rear-end every time he calls a play. Get over yourselves! You lost and you'll keep losing.

I have to laugh everytime I hear a bama fan say Auburn football doesn't matter, or Auburn football doesn't count. If it doesn't matter or count, why are yall so upset when we beat you? Why is your most important rivalry against a team that doesn't count or matter? Bama fans only get more pathetic each year with the bragging, the whining, and their talk of respect. Bama fans obviously don't respect themselves; therefore, they have no respect for anyone else.

It's sad to watch an Alabama program fall into such depths. If the administration is smart, they will figure out that their main problem is they have let tradition and nostalgia take over instead of moving into the 21st Century. Look at Auburn, for instance. They have a great tradition, perhaps not as rich as Alabama, but they take great pride in it. They roll Toomer's and fondly remember Shug Jordan and Punt, Bama, Punt. Then go to Jordan-Hare Stadium, and watch their Under Armour commercial on the big screen, and see the pre-game video that features CURRENT Auburn players, instead of old grainy videos from the glory days. There's a mix of past and present, with the emphasis on the present and what can be done to attract 18-year-old boys and new fans. That's what it takes to move a program forward and garner more success than ever. The old days of dominating programs and 155-man rosters are done. It takes a lot more to win a football game, and Auburn seems to have found the formula.

Bama fans should be disgusted with AD Moore and Mike Shula. Do be mad at Auburn because they have a real coach who owns you. Shula needs to be fired: 0-19 when trailing after three quarters, 0-4 v Auburn, 0-4 v LSU, 1-3 v Tennesse, 1-3 v Arkansas.

When Bama hired Shula, he was exactly what they needed. Franchione ran off to Texas, Price was recruiting strippers, the program was under probation, and had hit an all time low. I don't blame Bama for hiring a steady coach that would head the program back in the right direction. There was no indication that Shula would take Bame back to the top.
That said, Shula produced only a single decent season, as a result of Joe Kines. Their offense was pretty bad last year too, but the defense masked that issues. Bama's offense has not finished better than 7th in the SEC in scoring since 2003.
Though a decent offensive coordinator would probably fix Bama's woes, a decent coach would have recognized that by now. However, since Shula was given a huge contract just last year, Bama will most likely keep him due to the cost of the buyout. So either hope for a new offensive coordinator or reach deep in your pockets next year to get rid of Shula. Doesn't look like many decent coaches are out there this year anyway.

Coach Schula is the man for Alabama! He's one of our own! Those "what have you done for me lately" fans have forgotten the 10-2 season last year. Remember when that bunch at Auburn wanted to fire Tuberville after a bad year? How stupid that appears now. Those so-called Bama fans who have never actually attended classes in Tuscaloosa, have never provided any real financial support to the football program, and have probably never even dropped the bucks to attend a football game there are ranting and raving for Schula's head.
I hope Mal doesn't listen to those folks. We need to stick with Coach Schula. He's a Bama man and one of us!

Of course the un-educated Bama nation find ways to make excuses for there sorry football team by playing paper football with statistics. Sorry Bama we didn't even need to accumulate yards, by driving down the field when your awful team gives us great field position to just go ahead and punch it in, because your offense is anemic. Has anyone heard about David Irons? The Bama nation showed its true pink colors by hitting him in the eye with a full water bottle after the game because he picked off John "Parker Allen Bobby Johnson Buddy Gray" Wilson. Sorry your QB has no heart, at least David Irons still has his THUMBS! Fear My Other Hand Bammers!!!!!!!!!

Just like Bama won the last three quarters last year, huh? You DOMINATED them there stats. Except that stat known as the scoreboard...what happened there? Most of Alabama's tradition of winning comes from when the bear had 200 players on scholarship. That's all over now.

You can set a sundial by a bammer's excuses. As reliable as sunrise and sunset. The table was all set for the Crimson Turd. They had motivation. Auburn was coming off a tough loss. It was at Bryant-Denny (soon to be renamed Tuberville Coliseum). Prothro was presenting the game ball. Videos of the bahr were talking about bammer class. Auburn was without it's best WR, it's QB and top RB were both hampered with injuries.
But Moral Victory U. couldn't seal the deal. They drove down on the first drive fueled by adrenaline, then chickened out at the goal line after getting b**chsmacked twice for no gain. Then, in a scene reminiscent of last year, Groves was again beating a hapless bammer QB to the backfield and Auburn's gimpy backfield run roughshod over the turd defense for two TDs. And finally, when bammer thought they'd grasped momentum back and were ready to end 4 years of slavery to Auburn, the better team demonstrated why it's better. Because when the chips are down and the pressure is on, one team knows how to win and the other team chokes. Cox lofts a perfect TD pass while Sarah Jessica Parker Wilson throws a perfect pass to David Irons.
Game. Set. Match. Just like Big Mouth McClain and Hot Air Darby, bammers will yap about hitting Auburn in the mouth (while stumbling off the field from a Will Herring hit), about winning the first quarter, winning the stats, "tradishun" and their glorious history and Auburn will smile and laugh as they walk away with bammer's manhood for the fifth straight year.

This is strictly for intothepink. You say look at the stat sheet. I am and there is only one stat that matters -- THE SCORE. Now Alabama did outgain AU but what do you expect Tuberville to do when AU starts two drives inside the Bama 15 yard line? What, is your tam the only one allowed to make defensive plays? Maybe it's time you admit teams no longer lay down for your once proud program

Untill the "powers-that-be" at Bama wake up to the 21st century, they will never build a winning program. They and their fans are so stuck on tradition that they can't see the present or the future. No one cares and few current players even know about all those great teams of 25 - 30 years ago.
The Bear won so many games because he recruited 150 players just to keep other teams from getting good players. That's ancient history and means absolutely nothing today. As long as Alabama football keeps trying to get a "Bama" man and not hire the best coach available, they are still going to be playing 2nd fiddle to Auburn in the state of Alabama. As an Auburn graduate and fan, I hope they continue to keep their heads in the sand and remain the laughing stock of the football world.

College football is big business. In the world of big business if you do not produce, your products are faulty, or you have no comsumer demand you change course or die. Bama, your stockholders are demanding change. You first rid yourself of the "president",aka, Mal Moore. He has the authority to control your "general manager", aka, Mike Shula. Let the new "president" dictate to Shula to change his
direction immediately or seek other employment. Forget the past, move forward or seek emrollment in the Ivy League.

I am glad we beat bama, but auburn fans we played arkansas and georgia at home and got killed. We could have played for the national title if we beat a bad georgia team. Beating alabama does not mean anything anymore. Auburn is not very good. I have watched auburn for 30 years, are you impressed. You better hope bama does not get petrino or someone good. We beat lsu and florida, and lose to georgia. ???????? We had everything to play for. The balance of power has shifted to auburn, but are you ok with 2 huge losses this year to true freshmen quarterbacks. We had everything to play for. How good is Tubberville?
