FSU lost 30-0 at home Saturday night to Wake Forest. That's right, 30-zero. As in not one single frickin point. I don't even want to talk about the actual game itself. The score says it all: We are terrible. Things need to be done. QB changes are not the answer. We have the players most coaches would give their first born for (insert Bobby-Jeff joke here). Both QBs were less than unproductive in this game, but I've seen enough FSU football to know why that is. They both have the goods to be great college QBs. They were both top QB recruits coming out of high school. The problem lies in that no QB here since Mark Richt and Chuck Amato left have improved even one little bit from the time they step on campus to when they leave. Chris Rix? He looked pretty good his freshman year. . . never improved. Fabian Walker? Never improved. Wyatt Sexton? Well I'm not even going to go there. Drew Weatherford looked good for a freshman last year. While his numbers haven't been all that poor, his play seems more disappointing than that of a year ago. Like with Rix, he may actually be getting WORSE with FSU coaching. I wish I was joking. Lee seems like he has only learned one thing since he arrived on campus as well. That he made a mistake. These players and their families have trusted their futures with the coaches. It is their job to develop their outstanding talent and get them to be the best football players they can be. That just is not happening. Hasn't been since 2000.
We know that changes need to be made. Everybody in the country can see that. However, Bobby Bowden has insisted that he will not fire Jeff. When asked this week about the situation, he responded that he does not believe in firing people. This is honest to God the first thing that came to my head: What he just said was the most stupid statement I have ever heard in my life. Well what the hell do you do when someone can't do something right? If they can't perform the job that they get paid to do then what do you do Bobby? We just got shut out at home while compiling a total of 139 yards with a bunch of 5 and 4 star recruits. If you get paid to do something and don't do it, well that's as good as stealing. And it's not just Jeff. He doesn't deserve all the blame. Daryl Dickey has not done his job as QBs coach. He simply can't develop talent. Billy Sexton (RBs) hasn't seemed to have done too great of a job either. Some of that is probably due to other factors on offense, but we have to clean house and only a select few should stay in my book. But of course this all falls from the top. Bobby, if you don't believe in firing people, you will get fired. Here's why. If changes are not made VERY soon, boosters will stop giving their money (they've already said so), obviously we will not be getting the $14 million each year for making a BCS bowl game, and oh yeah, the top recruits will no longer come here. This wouldn't be as much of a problem if we had good coaching (see Wake Forest), but then again that's why I'm writing this. And if we have only mediocre talent with this horrible coaching staff then 1-11 and 2-10 seasons would not be out of the question. Our stadium will only be half full each home game. The money FSU football generates for the university each year would take an incredible hit from a number of areas. And we all know that money is power so if you are holding the school back from receiving tens of millions of dollars each year while you are making over $2 mil a year yourself. . . well, I think you know what happens then.

well, i have to agree with you there on FSU....seems the coaches and Bobby and Jeff Bowden don't feel it is their fault for poor play calling and not getting the team prepared and focused ....also feels that FSU is not recruiting the best talent out there....i think FSU has relaxed a bit after the 1999 season and took a vacation....just there to collect a paycheck for the coaches and let the players do whatever they want....weatherford did say he felt the coaches were confused about the players and what their strong/weak talents are....another thing it is true that penn state's coach Joe Paterno went through this a few yrs ago....but, if i remember correctly it was only one year or maybe 2 yrs that Penn State looked bad along with he coaching staff....unfortanetly for Florida State we've looked bad since 2000 and have never had a successful season ...the confernce has changed since 2000 now that we have Miami, Boston College, and Virginia Tech in the mix but, still no reason to have the horrible seasons we've been having....we've always played Miami every year .....i think it's time for Bobby to hire some new coaches some new talent on his staff and some fresh ideas and perspectives....when Mark Richt left to go to Georgia...did FSU go out and hire someone to feel in his shoes??? NOPE...when was the last time FSU hired any new coaches or staff for the football team? i for one want to see Bobby Bowden stay at FSU and continue to be the head Coach..along with Mickey Andrews the defensive coordinator....the rest of the coaches i don't know about....i for one think that Jeff Bowden should go back to coaching wide reicevers or being the water boy or something else other than the offensive coordinator....he doesn't have any experience .....i could do the same job and call the same plays jeff is calling....and you can pay me half of what jeff is making....i hope after this season is over some changes are made at FSU....otherwise come next year i'll be finding a new hobbie on saturdays than watching FSU lose...

I have seen losing, having graduated prior to Bowden...and I have seen winning...since...Yea Bowden!!!But,you know...I like winning better. Please Bobby, drop your family ties,do some firing, and let's get this show back on the road...as you used to do!!I cannot continue to send money, cheer for the stupidity I see each week, and call myself an educated fan.I am/was SO proud of FSU,and in particular,FSU football.Now...being in the middle of ACC country,I am having to eat all those years of success,as we continue to look/be a horrible team. The recruits are,still,good...but the coaching?.....there is none.I do believe we squandered a fine young athelete in Rix....and sent him off into the remainder of his life,wondering...if only....same with others.
Believe in your fans...your money base...and make this off-season one we will all be proud of...clean house....have a great /winning season...and RETIRE on a winning note....with qualified replacemnets hired, inplace, and sit out the remaining years...very proud of the name on the field...yours.This is a plea...from an avid/dedicated fan of FSU/Bobby Bowden.

Very well said, Mike. I agree.
I am a FSU fan through and through. I will always support my team whether winning or losing.
I'm not sure how much worse things need to get before changes are made. For the school, team and fan morale, I hope changes are made soon.
Weatherford has shown a lot of potential. It's a shame not to take this kid to the next level or to develop him better.
The biggest shame of all would to have Bobby leave FSU with another season like this. He should be going out with another championship because that's the kind of quality coach he is.
Always a fan, but ready for change.

All of the above comments are very well stated and get to the heart of the issue, but for a moment let's go back to when this rocky ride started. I say it was the 2000 National Championship game vs. Oklahoma. If you'll remember Mark Richt had one foot out the door heading to Georgia. Enter Jeff Bowden. Sure we've won a couple of big games including last years ACC Championship but did we really deserve to be in that game? Not really! Look where we are now. A 30-0 loss to Wake Forest? Come on people, this is crazy. The high school across the street has more students than Wake Forest does! Fans were running for the exits as if Tom Cruise was spotted in the parking lot. I cannot believe what has happened to what was once the premier college football program of the 1990's. How did this happen? Can and will it get fixed? What has to change? A local sportswriter here in South Florida said that FSU has the talent to win a National Championship, which I believe; however, I saw no fight in our team last Saturday night. I also saw no leadership. Where was "General Patton" when we needed him? Everyone just gave up. Even Coach Grobe from Wake said he didn't think it would be that easy. If Bobby is going to stay he needs to surround himself with good people and get rid of the dead wood, including Jeff. If Bobby isn't going to do it then maybe Terry can go to Jeff and say......."don't do this to our father anymore". I have a deep passion for FSU football and I'm tired of being made fun of week in and week out. Please get us some help soon so we can get this program back to where it once was.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves. Bobby is easily healthy enough to coach for another five years minimum. If he wants to keep his son on staff, he gets to keep him on staff -- end of discussion! Bobby Bowden brought FSU football into this world, and he damn sure can take it right back out again!

Saint Bobby and FSU HAVE BEEN OVERRATED FOR THE LAST 4-5 YEARS. They stopped getting the elite recruits,Bobby has been out of touch. If it wasn,t for Mickey heading up the D they would have been worse. As a betting man , made lots of cash betting against FSU the last 5 years, always overpriced. Keep hanging on Saint Bobby so I can make alot more jack.

I am looking forward to next year without Jeff Bowden. I have suffered just like everyone else over the past 5 years, since the Oklahoma defeat. Jeff is out the door and I couldn't be happier. I spent my teenage years watching the FSU dynasty of the 90's. I never believed that we would sink this low(losing multiple comference games). I remember when the loss to Virginia was BIG(the one where Warrick Dunn fell 3 yards short of the goal line when time ran out). Now we lose conference games every other week. Bowden needs to bring some coaches in that are motivated "go-getters". Reruiting is number 1 and sadly enough Bobby is being outdone this year by Urban in Gainesville. Come on and get it together.
