Trojans Get Their Groove Back (With a True Slump Buster)

On Saturday night, for the first time since their opener against Arkansas, the Trojan faithful got to enjoy something they had grown quite accustomed to during the 2004-2005 seasons -- a double-digit lead.

Granted it was the de facto Pac-10 whipping boy, the lowly Stanford Cardinal (now 0-9 after their loss to the Trojans) -- but following the Trojans upset at the hands of the Beavers last week, and several weeks of 'closer than they were supposed to be' matchups, USC fans will take it.

John David Booty threw for three TDs, Mark Sanchez came in during garbage time and ran for another, and perhaps more importantly, the Trojan defense returned to form, shutting Stanford out and holding the Cardinal offense to 30 yards net rushing.

The Trojans will need that sort of defense to show up against their next opponent, Oregon, who posted 316 yards on the ground Saturday night against Washington.
