The BCS championship game is big business. No doy. Also in the news: Buckeye fans can't spell. Anyway, the prospect of a one-loss SEC champion getting left out of the national championship game in favor of a Big East nancyboy has the south outraged. Our good friends at EDSBS have dug up an attack ad from the conference slated to air regionally in the coming weeks:
The Big East responds in kind after the jump.
Personally, I'm waiting for a Big Ten Ad set to the Imperial March declaring these petty bickerings irrelevant, as half of MechaBigTen is going to crush whichever unfortunate team is appointed to play Jacob in Arizona.

SEC is over-rated, like the BIg 10(11), who has Michigan played, and Ohio State has only played Texas. The BIg East is a good conference, not a great one yet, but just as good as the SEC or Big 10, but they do have supporters on ESPN that tells them lies, and does them a disservice,,,,psst,,you guys are not that good, believe it,,,,you will, when you really have to play West Virginia or Louisville, or maybe Rutgers,,who knows, and remember the only real fans you have go to your school, just like all the other schools around the country, and believe this to, your schools are no more important then the others, maybe in your minds. but this is not your fault, we need a playoff in college football and all this bickering will be gone and all the unfairness and bigoted statements will also go away. I would rather play for a national championship then someone votes for me,,,lol.

If the Big East wants to be taken seriously, its teams need to schedule at least some of their non-conference games against strong opponents, such as traditional top-25 contenders. Scheduling James Madison just will not do it.

As a fan of all college football and a WVU grad, I'm really fed up with this ranking crap along with all the talk and trash talk from every conference. Lets talk about schedules...everyone is bashing the B.E. about scheduling weak teams. AS all of us know, the schedules are created 5 years + out. I know wvu has scheduled Auburn in 08 & 09, Michigan State in 2010 & 11 and Florida State in 2012, 2013...so my math was a little off, that would be 7 years. You can't give a team S--T about schedules now. AS far as the SEC, no-one will argue about the leagues strong teams but they aren't strong year in and year out except for a few. Lets all give it time, the B.E. was washed off the board when the three so called big boys left for the ACC and by the way, the big boys aren't doing so good this year. I for one would love a playoff system of some sort. Take the best 8 at the end of the year, play in bowls and the winners go on. This would give a team like Boise State for instance a chance to show the college world if they are worthy. As we have seen, many of the so called power houses have had some incredible come-backs against really inferior teams which goes to prove that anyone can beat anyone on a given day. The only team that has been consistant is Ohio State.....and WVU. Its still a long season. I'd love to see WVU play in the NC game...but they still have to play a tough Louisville, resurrected Pitt and who thought Rutgers for gods sake.

You West Virginia/Big East fans need a reality check. There is no comparison in the schedules the Big East plays with the Big Ten, the South East Conference, or any other major conference. Should the stars align, and West Virginia finds itself in the National Title game against either Michigan or Ohio State, the Mountaineers will be exposed for what they are......the best of an inferior conference.

T Ryan....you trash the BE and say it isn't better than the SEC or Big 10. You trash WVU and say they aren't half as good to play somebody. Well they did! They Beat the living Dog Shat out of Georgia in the Georgia Dome! They return pretty much the same team!! They whipped the piss out of those big babies from the south. The same ones that said you can't run the spread against an SEC team because the speed is so fast. I think Greg Blue is still watching Slaton run circles around him, or are those birdies where he got laid out by our backup QB? LMAO What a bunch of scrubs. Was that the best your conference had to send? I thought you had speed? Miss State said they haven't ever faced a team with WVU's speed in the SEC. The same team that held the Great AUBURN's Kenny Irons in check WVU ran all over. The SEC plays scrubs all the time OOC. Georgia barely survived a winless Colorado.
You midwestern morons said you didn't know LVille had a team?! They headed west and beat KState. Wake up and dig your head out of your ass! PAC10 and Big 12 are two of the most over-rated conferences in the nation along with the ACC. Big 10 plays no one OOC either.

Anyone want to remind me of a good team from the midwest that plays somebody? KState plays more cupcakes than VT. Whats funny is they lost to a horrible Marshall team on there own field and played for the Big 12 title that year. That should tell you what kind of a joke conf the Big 12 is. OVERRATED YEAR AFTER YEAR!
Georgia barely beat winless Colorado AT HOME!! LOL
Schedule tougher OOC opponents. Seems they need to schedule a James Madison so they won't have to sweat it against a winless D1 program.

Other than the teams in the SEC, who do they play. How many OOC games to they play against the Big East, Big 10 or any big name teams out of their conference. When was the last time any SEC team played Michigan, Ohio State. It seems most of their OOC games are against the ACC which is really a strong conference this year. If the SEC thinks the Big East is such a pushover conference, why don't they schedule games against the top 4 teams in the Big East. WE ARE AVAILABLE, but the SEC's answer is "We have to play everyone in our own conference". Give us a call, we are available.

right, sec fans, your league is tougher than the nfc east, to hear you tell it...but the question is, how come your league doesn't dominate out of conference? how come the champion of your beloved, oh-so-tough conference lost a home game to the champion of the li'l ole big east in the sugar bowl? you guys sit around and pat each other on the back about your schedules, but i see western carolina and ul-monroe and buffalo out there...where are all those tough ooc games for the sec? you sec fans should quit drinking all that kool-aid...last year, uga, your champ, would have finished third in the big east behind wvu and louisville...this year, likely the same thing...

hey big east bashers- hate to let you know this but its not 1960 anymore, your so called powerhouses aren’t dominant. WVU is a current BCS bowl winner over the so called best conference in the country the SEC- which they did in the home state of their opponent.
Recruiting is different now a days, players are going to smaller school. Players used to go to the same 25 schools because that is all they were familiar with, going to one of those schools meant you made it as a recruit. Today with the internet, and other communication technology recruits have the ability to see more schools and pick where they think they will best fit in. Traditional Powerhouses are over..
And if you really must have the history WVU is a top25 all time winning program- sorry espn didn’t fill you in
p.s. if the SEC wants to play over us so much- you should of beat us last year ;)

You guys need to check the schedules.
Who has by far and away the best record against BCS leagues Out of Conference? The Big East.
Check the stats people.
Who is the SEC playing OOC? Auburn has Arkansas State this week. Wow and Ole Miss, Miss. State do not count people.
WVU will play 2 top 10 teams in Rutgers and Lousiville. Lousiville beat a then ranked Miami squad badly. Rutgers has beat big 10 schools, acc schools and others. Syracuse has even beat 2 Big 10 schools (and almost Iowa).
You guys need to get a grip and look at reality. The BE is not the SEC, but it is not a joke either. We will put 6 teams in a bowl. Remember it is only an 8 team league. 6 out of 8 is not too shabby.

I am a proud WVU grad and WVU fan and I agree with the article and most of this forum in that a BE champion, especially WVU, will get exposed for what the truly are if given the chance to run with the big dawgs. I know this for a fact after witnessing BE champion WVU's exposure in last year's Atlanta based Sugar Bowl against SEC champion (champion is best in the conference, right) UGA.

no team belongs with OSU this year. They are a step above all other teams; BE, SEC, B10, PAC 10 & Big 12... it doesn't matter. And they should be. They have the best players money can buy.
The BE champ is definitely inferior to the mighty SEC teams. The reigning SEC champ, Georgia, noticed this in their own backyard last January.
Oops!

I don't know how anyone in their right mind could suggest that the BEFC is on par with the SEC or the Big 10. It may be a tad above a down ACC this year, but let's be realistic. I would LOVE to see WVU, UL and Rutgars have to play games against LSU, Tennessee, Florida, Auburn and the like week end and week out beofre they crow about the BEFC.
And to those WVU homers who are proud of their win against the SEC champ UGa last year...just which did WVU and UL face last year and lose to????
Hint....it was Virginia Tech.
Kinda puts that UGa win back in perspective, doesn't it?
Next.

As a WVU fan, I obviously want the Mountaineers to win out and play OSU or UM for the national championship. However, a playoff would resolve all of this bickering and second guessing. There is one thing the SEC, the Big East, the ACC and the other major conferences have in common on this, and that is that our respectives conferences' university presidents all have their heads so far up the bowl committee's back sides (and vice versa) that getting a playoff in place will only happen when the BCS backfires badly enough and often enough to foster its dismantling in favor of a playoff. The D1 president's hollow claims about players missing class time for a playoff run are just that - hollow. Are the D1-A, DII and DIII players smarter than the D1 players? They seem to do just fine while participating in playoffs in those divisions. The university presidents (and WVU's David Hardesty if one of them, by the way) refuse to endorse a playoff that would not only settle these arguments where they should be settled - on the field - but would be lucrative beyond imagination. All the talk about fans not traveling to multiple playoff sites? Gee, the NCAA BB tournament doesn't seem to suffer from it. The best way to eliminate this useless bantering is to write to your respective university president and strongly urge him/her to support a D1 playoff. That fixes the problem. GO MOUNTAINEERS!

LOL To the posters that continue to believe that wvu stomped all over Georgia in last years bowl game. Let me remind you that the final margin of victory was ONLY 3 points, with Georgia outscoring wvu 35-3 in the 2nd half. The big easy is and will always be a joke until they get the D-2 schedule out of their OCC. If you look at wvu and Louisville's SOS,wvu at 93, Louis. at 50, you can see why noone takes them seriously.
