Colt McCoy for Heisman?

Text Size A A A
Colt McCoyFolks, it's time to start considering Colt McCoy a Heisman candidate, and frankly I am a bit surprised that he is not garnering more attention. We all know that Troy Smith has the Heisman race locked up, but for ESPN to not even include Colt in their Top 15 is ridiculous. His numbers are on par with Troy Smith and Brady Quinn, and he has led the Longhorns to 4 straight comeback victories. What more could you ask for? Let's take a look at the numbers:

Pass Yards
  • Brady Quinn - 2233 yds
  • Troy Smith - 1898 yds
  • Colt McCoy - 1705 yds
Touchdowns
  • Colt McCoy - 24
  • Troy Smith - 22
  • Brady Quinn - 21
Yards Per Attempt
  • Troy Smith - 8.87 YPA
  • Colt McCoy - 7.86 YPA
  • Brady Quinn - 7.37 YPA
Now I am in now way advocating that Colt should win the Heisman, or for that matter even saying he is better than Brady Quinn, I am just saying that he should be getting more mention as a Heisman candidate. ESPN's hate for Texas is really showing through in this one.
