Here's a new weekly feature for the NCAA Football FanHouse: Weekly BCS Conference Rankings.
Feel free to duke it out in the comments section. I'll try to liven it up by adding various themes each week.
This week's theme is NBC's comedy TV show The Office, pitting the conferences as characters from the show.
| 1. | Southeastern Conference (Dwight Schrute) - Scheming and strange, Dwight seeks power and authority above all else. He sold out his boss in a power move and openly feuded with sales staff rival Jim (Pac-10). Jim likes nothing more than to embarrass and upset Dwight. The SEC has four teams in the BCS top 13: Auburn (5th), Florida (6th), Tennessee (11th) and Arkansas (13th) plus No. 16 LSU. |
| 2. | Big Ten Conference (Pam Beesly) - Wholesomely Midwestern, Pam is modest and lovable as the office receptionist. She has not reached her potential but is starting to realize she has to take advantage of the opportunities available to her in life. The Big Ten has the top two teams in the BCS rankings (No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 Michigan) as well as Wisconsin (18th). |
| 3. | Pac-10 (Jim Halpert) - Always entertaining, Jim is a fun loving and overlooked employee at his own office. Despite great chemistry with Pam (Rose Bowl, anyone?), Jim is spurned by her and retreats to another office, heartbroken. The Pac-10 has two teams in the BCS top ten (No. 2 USC and No. 10 California) and four in the top 25 (no. 23 Oregon and No. 25 Washington State). |
| 4. | Big 12 (Michael Scott) - The office boss, Michael is entirely full of himself and struggles to earn respect from his co-workers. He means well, but insecurities lead to multiple leadership failures. The Big 12 has just one team in the BCS top 19 (No. 7 Texas) but five overall in the top 25 (No. 19 Oklahoma, No. 20 Missouri, No. 21 Texas A&M and No. 22 Nebraska). |
| 5. | Big East (Ryan Howard) - "The Temp", Ryan recently became a full-time employee and joined the sales staff in place of the departed Jim Halpert. Like Jim, he's witty and overlooked, although he prefers to remain anonymous to avoid unnecessary mingling with his strange co-workers. The Big East has two of the top Eight teams in the BCS (No. 4 West Virginia and No. 8 Louisville) as well as No. 14 Rutgers. |
| 6. | ACC (Angela Martin) - With a conservative outward demeanor and dogmatic views, Angela hides that she's power-hungry and willing to trample co-workers to get what she wants. Has a secret relationship with Dwight who is a perfect match for her hard-driving and demanding personality. The ACC's top BCS team is surging No. 12 Clemson. Boston College (No. 17) and Georgia Tech (No. 24) are also hanging around. |

What a shock!!!! The Big East was actually referred to as a BCS conference instead of the usual ridicule for being undeserving of such high praise. Or, as so many of you geniuses out there like to refer to it -- the "Big Least." How original .... (By the way, this cute little term goes back several years when the conference still included Miami, Boston College and Virginia Tech.)
