Illini Flag-Planting Captured on Film

Text Size A A A
After (heh) Illinois' 23-20 win over Michigan State, ESPN Plus captured the very end of a scuffle at the 50 over a rumored flag-planting incident, which is hilarious on about a dozen different levels. Well, thanks to the magic of YouTube we can present you with a fan's video that clearly shows the entire incident:

Of note:
  • Spartan DT Bobby Jones, a JUCO transfer, is ready to throw down. Next most cracked-out Spartan is redshirt freshman defensive end Reggie Graham. Maybe the Corso/Herbstreit assertion that MSU has recruited frontrunners for 30 years is true. These two guys had little impact on the game itself, but are ready to throw blows over a flag.
  • Jones actually tries to wade through the entire Illini roster to take the flag down.
  • There is nothing funnier than watching the Fighting Illini -- THE FIGHTING ILLINI -- talking trash to the Spartans as they leave the field and watching the Spartans try to talk back. Dude, you just lost to a school that hadn't won a Big Ten road game since the Hoover administration. A team that's coached by Ron Zook. The proper response is to put a bag on your head.
  • Like so: . Yes, that's the most popular icon at the RCMB these days.
