The Coaches Poll is a Joke - Part #2

Text Size A A A
Jay Coulter already covered this, but it bears repeating - the Coaches Poll is an absolute joke. Georgia Tech went to Blacksburg this weekend and jumped all over the Hokies, leading 38-13 at one point in the second half. VT's two garbage time touchdowns still don't dimish the fact that it was a double digit final, and an absolute woodshedding of a top 15 team on their home turf. At no point in that game did VT ever look like they were better than GT, instead taking it on the chin for most of the afternoon.

So the coaches poll comes out today, and GT is ranked ahead of VT - right? Oh wait, you mean that VT is #18 and GT is #20, despite exact same 4-1 records with GT having a resounding win on VT's home field? Somebody must have forgotten to tell the coaches to watch the game tape before they voted ... yeah, like the coaches have time to watch games. It's maddening that something as ridiculous and obviously poorly thought out as the coaches poll in it's current form plays a part in determing who gets to compete for the national championship. What a joke.
